So once again the National Weather Service (and probably countless others) are predicting snow and overnight accumulation.

How many other times this season have they predicted this and it didn't happen? The only day with a few hours of accumulation was Christmas, and that melted quickly.

Is anyone even paying attention to snow predictions in the weather forecasts these days? They seem to be a bit like falsely yelling "fire" in a crowded theater!

The stations have been pretty much spot-on about the weather where I am. In fact there is a bit of snow on the ground that has accumulated in the last hour or so. It depends where you're at.

I made Mr. M. put chains on my car last night in anticipation of the big blizzard. It was kind of annoying driving around today hearing them, but I'm well prepared for Monday morning. You know me: Safety First!

Eugene got about 4 inches of snow between 5am and 2pm. I-5 south of Eugene was closed most of the day, but has been re-opened.

See radio related note in the "Eugene Stations..." thread.

And I betcha because of the theory of how the world really works, the only reason it snowed is because I posted this rant! (Same theory that says 'when a butterfly flaps its wings in the Amazon rain forest, and a plane hits a building.')

Same here. It's a dusting at best (Parkrose), but school is 2 hours late.

Got maybe an inch here in Orchards.

Hockinson schools are closed but that's because a good number of kids live in the foothills.

Haven't been out yet, but as Brian said, I'm sure every idiot is on the road!

If there was any snow here in inner NE Portland, it was long gone by the time I woke up at 9.

Got about 8" yesterday here in Sandy, another 1-2" on top of that last night. Might get even more tonight, then it should be all over.

I have to commute to Gresham tomorrow, the hardest part will be getting out of my driveway.

There are a few patches of snow left here in Sellwood. This morning at 4:30 there was a very thin blanket covering the yard which was mostly still there at 7:30.

Re: forecasting ... personally, I watch the radar and the thermometer outside my window. When I was at KATU Jim Bosley told me that forecasting PDX weather was a crapshoot, especially in the winter. When the weather comes at you from multiple directions, it's difficult to predict which system will dominate.
