This is awesome!

Tired of a world in which Americans idolize wannabe singers and musicals about high schoolers pass as rock 'n roll music, Dr Pepper is encouraging (OK, begging) Axl Rose to finally release his 17-year-in-the-making belabored masterpiece, "Chinese Democracy", in 2008.

In an unprecedented show of solidarity with Axl, everyone in America, except former GN'R guitarists Slash and Buckethead, will receive a free can of Dr Pepper if the album ships some time — anytime! — in 2008. Dr Pepper supports Axl, and fully understands that sometimes you have to make it through the jungle before you get it right.

"It took a little patience to perfect Dr Pepper's special mix of 23 ingredients, which our fans have come to know and love," said Jaxie Alt, director of marketing for Dr Pepper. "So we completely understand and empathize with Axl's quest for perfection — for something more than the average album. We know once it's released, people will refer to it as "Dr Pepper for the ears" because it will be such a refreshing blend of rich, bold sounds — an instant classic."

Show your support for Axl and get on the nightrain of encouragement at this location.

Commented Axl Rose in a statement: "We are surprised and very happy to have the support of Dr. Pepper with our album, 'Chinese Democracy', as for us this came totally out of the blue. If there is any involvement with this promotion by our record company or others, we are unaware of such at this time. And as some of Buckethead's performances are on our album, I'll share my Dr Pepper with him."

Whats REALLY sad is that Axl Rose has 100% ownership of Guns N roses music, he makes all the calls, all the decisions about the music. If it were up to Slash and other original members of Guns N Roses this album would have been released a long time ago.

Man, if the original members of GNR got back together for a tour, it would blow all records out of the water. Judging by the response at the Velvet Revolver show this summer when they played a couple of GNR songs, it would be huge. They could make more money than they ever dreamed. What a shame to piss away the opportunity!

Hey Vitalogy, That will never happen according to Slash. But whats really sad was the "chinese Democracy" was the last album recorded by original members including Slash, right before the band broke up. So this is a True Guns N Roses album with all new material recorded right after the Use Your Illusions albums.

I thought it was his new band, that is only him but called GNR. I'm not opposed to some new unreleased material if it's real GNR. GNR is one of my all time favs.

Well if Axl wasn't such an ass ... can you imagine a reunion tour? That would blow the doors off of anything!

Axl's ego won't let it happen though. He makes Eddie Van Halen look like a boy scout in comparison.

Most of it was with the original members including Slash, but the band broke up before the album was 100% completed!

If the album contained 100% material with only the new memebers(which it doesn't) Than I don;t think there would be that much anticipation for it. To me, as a HUGE Guns N Roses fan, Guns N Roses is NOT Guns n Roses without Slash. He is just as important as AXL.

Some of these songs were leaked online in 2006 and a buddy of mine that lives in LA sent them to me. They were in horrible condition being stolen and then compressed into MP3 form.
The best song is T.W.A.T. (There Was A Time)and the biggest hit will probably be Madagascar another November Rain ballad..
The others where not good enough to remember.... Don't look for the album till at least next summer. And some insiders say that Axl is going shelve the album.
Who knows and at this point who really cares it's NOT the real GNR anyway.

Slash and Axl are GNR. GNR is neither of them alone.

Axl is Guns and Roses. I saw concert footage of Guns with the current lineup and I can tell you that you will not miss Slash at all when you see Bumblefoot on stage.

Axl is the whole show.

The last footage I saw he was drunk out of this everliving mind. He sang 3 songs and stormed off stage.

Slash Kick ass! have you seen him on the new Commercial for guitar hero??? Slash also has a new autobiography out and it is REALLY good. I sat in Boarders the other day for an hour reading some of it and here is some interesting facts I learned from it

-Slash has an artificial pacemaker implanted in his heart. Dr.s told him 5 years ago that he would be dead within a year unless he stoped drinking cold turkey. It is now five years later, he is still alive and still drinks.

-He grew up with a lot of musical connections, his mom dated David Bowie and other famous musicians.

- He actually tried out for the glam band "POISON" BUT they turned him down because he didn't look "glam" enough. Instead they gave the gig to C.C Deville.

I love Guns N roses and I just couldn't go see them without Slash.
Growing up as a teen and watching those Guns N Roses video's with Slash and his cool guitar solo's it just wouldn't be the same without him. In all honesty, Im surprised Guns n Roses lasted as long as they did, they were together at least 12 years before the band broke up. Thats a long time considering that your lead singer is a walking time bomb that could explode at any time! Think about how many things they sacrificed to keep that band going?? Quite a bit, all members had to sighn away the rights of all of their songs and give AXL rose 100% control of their music. Thats pretty fucked up if you ask me.

"estranged" By GNR could quite possibly be my favorite song of all time! Heard it on KUFO the other night and was blown away by the song and I've only heard it about 500 times. "estranged" is a highly underrated GNR song. In my opinion it ranks right up there with most Zeppelin songs.

ROCKET QUEEN. One of the best rock songs EVER RECORDED! I love this song so much.

My friend went out and bought Guns N Roses Greatest hits and as I was looking down the song selections I was completely unimpressed.

Where is "ESTRANGED"
Where is "Rocket Queen"
Where is "mr Brownstone"
This right here is another reason why I never buy Greatest Hits albums because they always leave off a lot of great material.
I guess if the song wasn't in the top 10 than its not on a greatest hits album.

Dont blame Axl on that greatest hits cd, the record company put it out with out his consent or ideas.

Look for an AXL approved version with the songs you want next year.

You're right Mc74!

When Axl Rose and Slash heard that Geffen Records was about to release a "Greatest Hits" album, they (unsuccesfully) sued to suppress the release. Reasons stated by Axl in the lawsuit: (1) Geffen did not consult him on the track-listing (note to Axl: Geffen OWNS the rights to these songs!) and (2) the release would hinder/endanger the release of the long-awaited "Chinese Democracy" album (I haven't laughed this hard in a long time!).

"Greatest Hits" (14 tracks, 79 min.) is, without a doubt, a flawed compilation, yet also contains a lot of great music. The essential "Appetite for Destruction" is under-represented with only 3 tracks (no "Mr. Brownstone"?) and "The Spaghetti Incident?" is over-represented with 2 tracks (including an out-of-context "Since I Don't Have You"). "Use Your Illusion I and II" get 7 tracks, rightfully ("November Rain" stills sounds as bombastic and egotistic as ever). There are too many cover songs: 5 of the 14 tracks are covers, including for the first time on a GnR album the so-so (at best) "Sympathy for the Devil" from 1994's "Interview with the Vampire" soundtrack.

Can you really be upset with Geffen Records for releasing this? I mean, they have been waiting TWELVE YEARS for a follow-up studio album. And do you really think at this point that "Chinese Democracy" will ever see the light of day? I'm not holding my breath... Meanwhile, this greatest hits (not a "best of") compiles GnR's best-known songs, which will satisfy most casual GnR fans.

in March 2004, Geffen released Guns N' Roses' Greatest Hits, since Rose had failed to deliver a new studio album in more than ten years. Rose expressed his displeasure with this album as its track listing was established without his consent and went as far as trying to block its release by suing Geffen. This failed, however, and the album went triple platinum in the USA.

It looks as though Velvet Revolver has broken up. New lead singer?
Rumor has it Sebastian Bach (sp) of Skid Row might be the new singer, which is weird because he is good friends with Axl Rose.

Where did you hear that crazy rumor? No way will Sebastian Bach front Velvet Revolver. He is way too close to Axl and has even appeared with him on his current tour to sing with him.

What you heard was a quote from Weiland. He said they should get Bach to be the lead singer. It was more of a joke and insult to slash.

Weiland is such an ass, I hope they get a new singer because Velvet Revolver has a ton of talent, plus Im still waiting for a good Velvet Revolver album, not that their previous albums were bad, BUT I was expecting more.
