In my opinion there is not a lot of great NEW music out. Infact most of the new albums coming out are crap. Im currently listening to Weezers new cd, which is ok. nothing spectacular BUT worth purchasing. I was hoping Gavin Rossdales new album would be awesome. I started to preview it at the record store and 4 words come to describe his new album- "FLAMING PILE OF DOG CRAP". AWFUL!!! I guess I was hoping for it to sound like a bush record, but it sounds more like a Match Box 20 record and as you know I think Matchbox 20 cd's are good for one thing- Beer Coasters to set your beer on. Their music is CRAP.

Any new Cd's that are good or Extremely bad. Please share!

I once used a Matchbox 20 Cd to wipe my ass off with. It worked really well.

Matchbox 20 is the Michael Boton of rock. They have sold millions or records, yet I don't know a single person(Male Or female) who owns or listens to Matchbox 20 cd's.

A new album I will be purchasing on line soon will be by keyboardist Brian Culbertson. The CD is called "Bringing Back the Funk."

This guy defines funk piano playing. He also gets some great support from "Da Funk Masters" like Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire, Bootsy Collins, Ray Parker Jr., plus a plethora of other outstanding funk talent.

This is not your parents Kenny G CD.

If you enjoyed funk groups like EW&F, The Gap Band, and funksters George Clinton and James Brown, this CD just might be the groove you're missing in your CD Library.

".....yet I don't know a single person(Male Or female) who owns or listens to Matchbox 20 cd's."

You don't know my Dad, then. Of course, he also is the same one who makes a habit of listening to the Shins.

That's all I am going to say about that. I'll leave the rest up to the imagination.

For the record (yup), I purchased CDs of "Are You Experienced", "Dark Side of the Moon" and "Sgt. Pepper's" at Border's Books yesterday. Suffice it to say the girl at the checkout counter hadn't heard of any of the bands. One look at her easily reveals her particular demographic, thus making it painfully obvious. Sad.

Matchbox Twenty CDs=expensive substitute for bike reflectors.

Most any and all new rock. It sucks.

It's a sad state of affairs when the best music in the genre coming out is from bands that have been around for 30+ years. I FINALLY checked out Humanity Hour 1 and my God, it's incredible. It's right up there with Snakes and Arrows.

These young guns are getting pWned by the old farts!

I told you "Humanity Hour 1" is awesome Brianl. Trust me, It takes A LOT for me to brag about an album but The new Scorpions album is so good, I can't stop. Klause's voice is so strong on this album it blows me away. Even the power ballads are genius. That guy has such a great voice, the Scorpions Finally made an album that shows off how great his voice is. On the song "The future never dies" Klause sounds so much like Freddie Mercury its almost scary. That guy CAN SING!
What really irritates me Brianl is that the new Motley Crue album is getting a ton of airplay on rock radio and it is not even in the same leauge as the new scorpions album.
It is too bad that a majority of the new rock coming out today is crap, Im really trying to find some new bands that are really good but I just can't find them.

Yup 3 Days Grace is Crap, I agree Trixter. I'll have to try the new Def Leppard album, havent listened to that yet. Although Def Leppards last album called "x" was such a piece of crap I'm still holding that against them. I really wish Velvet Revolver would put out a new album that is actually good. Their last album was weak. You would think that with all that good talent- they would be making incredible albums, but I don't think they are. "Contraband" by Velvet Revolver was a good album, but nothing amazing.

Although Def Leppards last album called "x" was such a piece of crap.

They talked about that on a interview and they have apologized for that. They were trying to appease the younger set with a somewhat new sound. Sparkle Lounge is very good. They put a little more into this one than "X".

I really wish Velvet Revolver would put out a new album.

They need a lead singer first....

By the way Temper and Trixter, lets not forget that Whitesnake has a new album out.(LOL)
I was listening to it on Amazon and its actually not that bad. My Boy David Coverdale aka "leather face" is back with his band. I guess the new album from Whitesnake came out a month ago.

But Temper and Trixter, DON't expect Tawny Kitaen to be "spread eagle" on the front of David Coverdale's car in any of Whitesnakes' new music videos. Last time Tawney was in the news she was arrested for beating the hell out of her husband Chuck Finley. Apparently she was beating him with her new Stiletto High Heels. OUCH! Hopefully he was wearing a "CUP" since he is a professional baseball player.

A few days ago, I bought The Eagles' new double-CD _Out_Of_Eden_. I've only listened to it once, so the songs haven't really grown on me. That first listen was a bit overwhelming because there is so much in that album. My first impression was of surprise that many of the songs seem to have a country influence behind them. These guys are old pros, so I knew that they weren't going to let me down.

A relatively new singer-songwriter who really surprised me with her talents is Amy Winehouse. Unfortunately, I think that her career is close to being over, due to the many scandals and trouble brought about by her drug use and mental health issues. The latest mishap involved the leaking of a video that shows Winehouse and a friend hanging out at a drug party and singing a string of racial and ethnic slurs. If I were one of Winehouse's "good" (i.e. non drug addicted) friends or her father, I would be sick and tired of having to pull her ass out of the fire time and time again.

What stands out about Winehouse's songwriting is that virtually all of the original songs on her albums tell stories about stuff that happened to her. A few, such as "F-Me Pumps" are pithy cultural observations. You won't find Winehouse singing about stuff that she saw in a movie or TV or writing lyrics about fictional events. The quality of the song writing is really good, especially given that she was in her late teens and early 20s when she wrote all her material. Her voice has a wide range and sounds really great when singing jazz or 1960s-style soul. It is truly a shame that this this woman has so much talent that she doesn't know what to do with it. I own both of Winehouse's studio albums, and I'm pretty certain that there won't be a third one, the way she's going.

P.S.: If you want to hear Amy Winehouse, please do yourself a favor and DON'T watch the You Tube videos of her disastrous concerts from last summer (after her husband was put in prison) or of her pathetic performance on "The Charlotte Church Show." I'm very thankful that I didn't watch these terrible videos until after I bought her CD.

The best track on the new Eagles CD is IMHO "Long Road Out of Eden". At over ten minutes long you will never likely hear it on-air.

I will have to get the new Whitesnake CD and give it a listen. I like Whitesnake.

It's taking longer for Beck's new album to sink in than his previous efforts. It's surprising too because it has all the elements that I am kinda digging in other artists. ( Jangly, loose, dark, Doors-y-ish ) And Dangermouse producing is a plus. It just leans a little too much into the acid era for my taste. The hooks are still there.

I don't know.

Like I said, it's taking longer.

I am looking forward to new Metallica- produced by Rick Rubin. I like the bombastic stuff he can produce.

Rage Against The Machine will have new stuff out early next year. I'm in for that.

Yup, the Racounteurs new album is awesome. A new Rage album is long overdue. The last album Rage Against The Machine put out was during the Clinton years of presidency. Rage, being the political band they are, really needed to put out an album during the BusH years.(Lead singer Zach De La Rosa would have had a lot to say about Bush in his music, IF rage put out an album during the Bush Years, which they wont.

And I'm also very excited to hear the new Metallica album that will be coming out soon. Their last album "St anger" was such a complete piece of shit that I'm assuming they will be going in a new direction.

Velvet Revolver is another band I'm hoping will have a new album out soon. That band is so incredibley talented, and Rumor has it, Chris Cornell might become the new lead singer Of Velvet Revolver.

Still LOVING "humanity Hour 1" by the Scorpions, that album never gets old!

I like (parts of) the new Journey CD.

I'm going to the Journey concert in Sept and I can't wait. They've received good reviews from what I've read. Of course, they will never be the same without Steve Perry, but being that they are one of my all time favorite bands, I'll see them with the new guy and still enjoy it.

Buckcherry has a new album coming out and Im looking forward to hearing it. How could you go wrong with a song titled "Too Drunk to fuck", that is the title of their new single.

So BuckCherry's biggest single so far has been "Crazy bitch" which was on his last album. Apparently they are continuing the Raunchy lyrics on their new single "Too drunk to fuck". I heard this song On K-fly when i was down in Eugene last week.

Check out the Lyrics to "Too Drunk to Fuck"

I hit the bottle in the morning in the summer time
I quit my job cause it gets in the way
I find a party by the ocean buy the cheapest wine,
tell my friends to come and waiste the day.

I got a dimeback,
cortoroys,
colored sleeves,
and a bindle with some LSD.

Now im just lookin for a girl to meet to help me to forget my name.

I could spend my lifetime gettin high,
never wanna live in suit and tie.

Most of us are just livin a lie,
drunk gettin fucked up every night.

Im gettin drunk all night ooh im gettin drunk all day ooh im gettin drunk all night im sorry but i have to say,
im too drunk to fuck.

Now the party was jumpin and the girls were fine with the lipstick summer glaze.
I got so many women comin after me i put some pussy on layaway.
I was smoked out,
tore up,
drunk as fuck and i wouldn't wanna change a thing.
Young and dumb and full of cum with a sugar loaded candy cane.

I could spend my lifetime gettin high.
never wanna live in suit and tie.

Most of us are just livin a lie,
drink gettin fucked up every night.

Im gettin drunk all night ohoh im gettin drunk all day ohoh im gettin drunk all night ohoh im gettin drunk all day ohoh im gettin drunk all night ohoh im gettin drunk all day ohohoh im gettin drunk all night,
im sorry but i have to say.
IM TOO DRUNK TO FUCK YOU! aaahh yeah im too drunk to fuck you (guitar plays for a bit).

I can't eat cant sleep and im bored as fuck and the girl i want just walked away.
She just found out im too drunk to fuck,
looks like im not gettin laid.

I could spend my lifetime gettin high,
never wanna live in suit and tie.

Most of us are just livin a lie,
drunk gettin fucked upo every night.

Im gettin drunk all night ooh im gettin drunk all day ooh im gettin drunk all night ooh im gettin drunk all day ooh im gettin drunk all night ooh im gettin drunk all day ooh im gettin drunk all night.
Im sorry but i have to say,
IM TOO DRUNK TO FUCK YOU! YAAAAA...
IM TOO DRUNK TO FUCK YOU.
IM TOO DRUNK TO FUCK!

Wasn't their earlier minor hit called "Lit Up," which was a song about cocaine?

Even Clapton did a song about that.

It's all about songs for parents to get repulsed over because they haven't talked to their kids about these subjects before the media, peers, and others did.

Yup, "Lit up" is all about cocaine. Buckcherry makes some raunchy music, and its selling so Im sure they will continue with that formula!

And no merkin, this is not a cover or a remake of the Dead Kennedys song with the same title. Two completely different songs.

I haven't listened to much new stuff lately that's worth mentioning here, however about a week ago family picked up a copy of Bruce Springsteen's Magic for a buck at a hock-shop-type place... great album and I wonder if the reason Radio Nowhere didn't get more airplay wasn't because of the song itself, but the rest of the tracks on the album all seem to ask the question "how the hell did this country get so f'ed up?"

One last comment on the Buckcherry type of thing, it could be worse... we could be talking about the song "What Planet You On" by Bodyrox/Luciana...
