A Florida financier, convicted of soliciting prostitutes in Florida, was defended in part by former Federal Judge and Whitewater Special Prosecutor Kenneth Starr. According to authorities, this financier was known to hire underage girls for sexual encounters at his Florida home.

You have to wonder about Judge Starr. He sells himself as a paragon of virtue but defends a man that he knows hires teenage girls for sex. Makes one wonder. Given his wily persecution of former President Bill Clinton during the later part of his presidency, you’d think he’d have more sense than to defend a child rapist. But given this financiers vast wealth, even Kenneth Starr could be bought off – lock, stock and barrel.

Is it your position that lawyers only take cases of people they believe to be innocent? What should be done with those who are accused of distasteful crimes? Should they go without lawyers? What's your position here? Or are you trolling?

Because Deane, it's a brilliant, and I mean brilliant example of hypocrisy. The man is responsible for the persecution of a incumbent president on issues related to sex and he then whores himself out to a billionaire financier child rapist. If that’s not hypocrisy Deane, than you must be the smartest boy in the class. If you can’t see the irony, you must be one of the most dense individuals on planet Earth.

As for trolling Deane, no, but I would expect that from you.

I think Talpdx was wondering why Ken "Mr. Virtue" Starr himself would defend a solicitor of underage prostitutes? Didn't see a suggestion that the accused should not have been allowed an attorney...

Isn't it amazing the length's some of you will go to to belittle the Republican party?

Now, I wonder, was Charles Manson's attorney a Democrat or a Republican? We could guess that since he was from the liberal cesspool of California, that there is a remote chance he was a Democrat, though we really don't know.

How about Scott Peterson? Was his defense attorney a Democrat or a Republican? How about OJ's defense team, Democrat or Republican?

Attorney's take on cases for money, not for idealism.

By the way, I think Ken Starr is a piece of shit myself, but that's not the issue.

Deane, you are a hoot. Once again, you can’t see the forest through the trees. Judge Kenneth W. Starr, former Reagan Justice Department Chief of Staff, Federal Judge, Special Counsel appointed by a three judge panel led by a Republican appointed jurist and close friend of Jesse Helms and Pepperdine Law School Dean is defending a child rapist. Again, if you don’t see the irony in that, I really feel sorry for you.

As for the GOP, they deserve all the crap they receive on this and many other boards. You repeatedly make comments about the Democrats, so your amnesia bit may work well in your world, but in the rest of the universe, we see right through you.

"Again, if you don’t see the irony in that, I really feel sorry for you."

I see more irony in the Democrats nominating for President, a guy who has a long history of gravitating toward America haters, terrorists, and crooks. It is not, however, unusual for liberals to want to overlook things like this.

Unlike you, no I shouldn't. But incontinence is nothing new for you -- we routinely smell it in your posts.

As for your Obama bashing, go ahead and whine. I realize your party is as popular as a sex offender in a neighborhood park, so defending it will require you to deny the obvious and find fault where it does not exist.

I have no problem with Starr being involved with a case like this.

I think he should build an entire career on it. Go for it. Become known for defending cases just like this. Be " THE " go-to guy. Knock yourself out.

But let's not pretend that Starr is doing this out of some deep moral conviction about the legal system or the right to representation or something like that.

Deane, here's what you're overlooking: It wouldn't matter if Manson's lawyer was a Republican or a Democrat, what would matter is if Manson's lawyer had previously taken a stand against cults, yet turned around to defend a cult leader accused of a crime. Nobody's saying the accused should not be able to have a lawyer. Ken Starr is a hypocrite. He should have passed on defending the guy. However, like a greedy hypocrite, he's doing it for the money (which is his right, which makes it my right to criticize his business practices).

This exchange does not demonstrate lack of intelligence.

It does clearly demonstrate the flawed reasoning possible when one makes a conscious choice to reason with things we do not know to be true, as if they are absolutely true.

Of course not. It's just something to toss out there into the ether and see if it sticks.

It never does. Everyone here knows that.

Yes it is.

Marvin, getting the word out on that, daily, to everybody that will listen is important right now.

Lots of harm has been done. The system only works if people understand that harm and who did it and why.

The end result is that everybody knows what happens when too many of us vote for Republicans.

On that note:

The Republican party has done the work to make lists like this possible:
