John McCain is infusing his campaign with high level Karl Rove associates – including close Rove associate Steve Schmidt, Nicolle Wallace and former FOX News Producer Greg Jenkins. They’ll all be working at the highest levels of his campaign.

It was just a matter of time that McCain dumped his current team and went with Team Rove. I wonder if Karl Rove is going to play a role in the McCain effort? Given all the VERY NASTY rumors ginned up against McCain by Rove and Bush in 2000, you know McCain is desperate when he takes on these folks.

I guess the veneer of reformer has been wiped clean.

Nope. Early on in the primary season, I figured McCain would highlight his credentials as a "maverick" or "reformer" and choose staff accordingly. But he's flip flopped on so many key issues that he couldn't possibly run as such and do it with a straight face.

It should be interesting to see if Rove’s old cronies can infuse a bit of excitement into what I see as a nearly lifeless campaign.
