Just heard on KUFO that Kurt Cobians daughter turns 16 in a few weeks.
Who thinks she will be in Rehab with her mom by the time shes 21??

The only thing smart about Courtney Love is that she has kept her daughter away from the media SO FAR, Except now she wants to feature her in an MTV Sweet 16 episode. Talk about exploiting her daughter to GET her music career back on track!
This poor KID! The last thing this kid needs is media attention. Let her have a normal childhood, she is only 16.

To date, Frances has given four official interviews. In September 2005, at age 13, Cobain gave her first ever interview to Teen Vogue where she discussed her personal style and mentions her parents.[8] The second interview appeared in i-D magazine in January 2006, where she expressed negativity over tabloid portrayals of her mother, saying, "when you see a lot of lies about her in the tabloids...it can be hurtful."[9] In August 2006, she was photographed for ELLE in her father's famous red cardigan and his pajama pants that he got married in. "I wore his pajamas because he got married in them to my mom in 1992 in Hawaii so I thought they would be cute if I wore them today ... he was too lazy to put on a tux so he got married in pajamas!" she said. She also said that she wears his clothes now and then, and owns more than 137 pairs of shoes, 200 pairs of jeans, and many designer bags. In February 2008, Frances appeared in a photo spread for Harper's Bazaar[1].

According to her mother, Frances is set to inherit "a sweater, a guitar, and the lyrics to 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'" from her father's possessions. [10] Many other possessions will be sold in an upcoming auction held by Courtney Love, with the majority of the proceeds going to charity. According to Rolling Stone magazine, the title and cover photograph for Sliver: The Best of the Box, the latest posthumous Nirvana release, were chosen by Frances[11]. The cover photograph shows a pile of Nirvana and Cobain tapes strewn about, including a copy of the "Fecal Matter" demo.

I sincerely hope Francis Bean Cobain is a good kid and hasn't learned to be a calculating grifter like her mother. The stories I heard about Courtney Love when she lived in Portland painted her in a very negative light. But I do admit I enjoyed Courtney Love's band, Hole, very much. I think "Doll Parts" is an excellent song.

Remember the movie: Kurt and Courtney? Not a very flattering tale.

Good luck and Happy Birthday to Ms. Francis Bean Cobain.

As much as I hate to admit it, I also love the group Hole also. "live through this" was an excellent album. Infact Spin Magazine said "Live through this" was in the top 100 greatest albums of all time.

Hole's "Live Through This" is excellent.

Frances Bean will be just fine.

Her Mom's "act" is often an act to stay in the public eye. If it wasn't an act we'd seen more of Frances Bean. Mom knows what she's doing. She's from Portland for God's sake!

Its pretty pathetic that Courtney Love sold of a lot of Kurt Cobains publishing rights to his songs. I guess she needed money to supply her drug habbit. I know Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters was livid when she sold the publishing rights to a lot of Nirvanas music. I often wondered why Dave didn't have more of say in the matter. He helped write a lot of Nirvanas music.

I hope so...an acorn does not fall too far from the tree and with her mom still doing her antics...watch out.

Well Courtney Love is trying to get MTV to film Francis Bean's sweet 16 party. Sounds pretty shady to me. More ways for Courtney to get publicity at her daughters expense. If this happends, her daughter will no longer have a normal life. This is bad news. Most kids can't handle being in the public eye, they don't know how to deal with it so they turn to drugs and alcohol. With Francis Bean having one of the most famous fathers in rock it will be hard for her to cary on and have a normal life, but putting an MTV specail about her 16th party will make things even worse. Hopefully she won't turn into a Brittney spears or Lindsey Lohan.

At 16 (back in the mid-90s), I got dinner at an inexpensive restaurant and a few CDs (compact discs, not certificates of deposit... oh well).
I knew several other people back then who got even less.

It reinforces that having celebrity parents means that Frances Cobain does not (and possibly cannot) have a life like that of us amongst the "unwashed masses."

I'm sure there are plenty of celebrity parents that do a wonderful job raising their children, keeping them well grounded, out of the spotlight and focused on friends, school, chores, and academic/athletic activities.

Then you have those who pimp their children out on some of these reality television programs which can be nearly intolerable to watch, and often send their kids reeling from the experience.

Being rich and famous doesn’t mean you’re going to be a good parent – just ask Joan Crawford’s kids.

Its usually the opposite. Look at how messed up the osbourne kids became after Ozzy's tv show ran. Both Jack and Kelly ended up in rehab. THey didn't have this problem until after Osbourne reality tv show ran. Also look at the Hoogans, a ton of CRAP went down after their reality tv show ran on tv. Nick Hogan is in jail for another 3 months, Linda Hogan cheated on the Hulk with a bunch of teenage guys.
Being in the media FUCKS YOU UP. Most people can't deal with all the attention it brings them.

I was trying to say that most people get very little for their 16th birthdays. It doesn't even symbolize anything anymore... you're still in high school, can't vote yet, can't smoke or drink or buy dirty magazines, and it's not an age where anyone should be getting married--yet some people and cultures insist on blowing it out of proportion because they want to give their kid a "good time."
Sure, someone can get a provisional drivers' license and drive... assuming they have the money to pay the licensing fees, have access to a car and enough money for gas and maintenance. Oh, and you can also get an entry-level job assuming you're in an area that has enough total jobs so the older folks aren't the ones in entry-level "careers."
All doing lots of lots of things "for the kids" that involve spending large sums of money puts them into the "spoiled brat" category (no offense intended!), and eventually gives them a sense of entitlement.
