PINEHURST, N.C. - A former Army medic made famous by a photograph that showed him carrying an injured Iraqi boy during the first week of the war in March 2003 has died of an apparent overdose, police said.

I think deaths like this should count in the official tally of war dead.

I posted this a couple days ago but it's indeed tragic. Another failing of this war. And for the longest time, the Veterans Affairs Department was in denial about the seriousness of the PTSD problem. Up until recently, their leadership lied about figures relating to soldiers suffering from various ailments and suicides.

You see it on the news all the time, VA Hospitals that are filled to the gills with soldiers needing help but are placed on waiting lists. Excellent planning on the part of George W. Bush and Friends.

I hope the war dead spend some time haunting a certain dirt ranch in Crawford Texas.
