Herb, I hope you are just on a long vacation, resting up for the upcoming conventions.

I miss your comments.

Hi Radioblogman.

In all honesty, I lost much of my interest in this site when a poster stated he wished the death of a person he opposed politically. That did it for me.

It occured in the past month or so, if anyone wishes to pull it up to verify it. Take care-

Herb

It's even worse than I remember, for the post is about the demise of not one, but two other human beings, on political grounds:

I'm shocked that that's all it took!

I am opposed to him (Dobson) but not just politically. I'll add that I am opposed to him religiously, and as a fellow human as well. He's evil.

However I don't believe that hoping that "God calling him home" is the same thing as "wishing him dead".

And I wouldn't be surprised if God doesn't want want him upstairs, so Dobson probably doesn't need to worry much.

I think that for all of us, there are times where it would be beneficial to count to three, instead of posting hurtful words in the heat of passion. I can't say that I would ever really wish anyone dead--not even Fidel Castro himself. I believe that the only thing that would be accomplished by said wishes would be making me look like a jerk.

"I would ever really wish anyone dead--not even Fidel Castro himself."

How about Osama bin Laden?

Would it have been appropriate to wish Saddam Hussein, or Hitler dead?

How about abortionists?

I think the world would benefit from the early demise of Rev. Fred Phelps. I also think Pol Pot didn't leave soon enough. I don't think this makes me a jerk.

As for Deane, I suppose it takes someone who is derailed to know one then. Is that what you're saying?

As for Herb, he's his old hypocritical self - associated with organizations that from time to time KILL people when they don't get their way, yet at the same time bitchin about a poster here wishing someone dead. He's a troll. And not only that, he's turning more people away from God than any other poster in this forum ever.

Herb's absence benefits the forum and religion in general.

Herb needs to follow his conscience. With that said, I don't find Missing’s comment the least bit offensive. Pat Robertson and James Dobson are big boys, they can handle the remarks. Both men throw rhetorical bombshells all the time at their political and religious opponents without regard to who gets hurt. It’s their stock and trade. Plus they’ve got millions of dollars in earnings riding on it. Robertson and Dobson don’t live like missionary paupers. They are big business. And too, some publicity, even for a TV preacher/diamond merchant and a pseudo psychologist, is better than no publicity at all. Honestly, I've read MUCH worse – from both Robertson and Dobson.

FOR THAT?

Pussies.

There just is no nice way to put it.

I think the real problem lies in being unable to defend nut-bags like Dobson to rational people, not afraid to tell it like it is.

If you are looking for some contrition regarding those remarks, know you will never, ever get it.

"Ok Dad, Saddam is dead now. Does that mean things are gonna get better?"

Son, there are no guarantees in this life, but bad things happen to evil men who torture and oppress their people.

Probably not PC enough for many on this board, though.

Herb

Apparently, Saddam's death is the only one that can be welcomed or deemed 'deserved'.

I guess Missing was not PC enough for Herb. What a hypocrite.

> How about Osama bin Laden?

It is my opinion that a great deal of closure would be achieved by his being caught. Most likely, the result would be an eventual execution. However I believe that my "wishing" or "hoping" for a certain outcome matters not one whit. I am too old to be a cheerleader.

Utilikilts look cool, but they are VERY expensive!! The last time that I was at a promotional booth for the Libertarian Party, the Utilikilts folks had a booth next to us. The kilts they had on display were roughly in the $150-$200 price range.

To be honest, I've found the sudden lack of religious bullshit to be quite refreshing. I was getting ready to exit myself if it continued.

And, I'm going to call a spade a spade here. I think Herb has hit the road because he can no longer back up his rhetoric.

The one thing that I could not respect about Herb is that he refused to meet face-to-face with any other participants of the message board. The only explanation he offered was, "I'm just a shy guy." Herb could have very easily been a fictional character whose posts were ghostwritten by another board participant for the fun of it. Coincidentally, does anybody remember the "find Herb and win money" promotion that one of the national fast food chains did in the mid 1980s?

What I remember about the Herb promotion was that some very vague clues were given out, but no photos of Herb were ever shown on TV. I am not sure if customers who thought that they had spotted Herb were supposed to approach Herb or if they were supposed to tell a staff member. In either case, the promotion seems a bit dimwitted to me because potentially, it could have led to male patrons who fit the description being harassed and thus alienated from eating at Burger King or to restaurant staff having to deal with extra interruptions.
