Some talks around the message board have been that Dj Fresh aka RadioHustla might be a disabled poster. I for one think he is not. If you notice the difference between Dj Fresh postings and Radiohustla's postings, Radiohustla sounds a bit smarter. Just my observation.
Discuss.
I think DjFresh aka Radiohustla is just trying to "Pull our leg".

I don't have an answer to this but, rather, a few questions: is voice recognition software intelligent enough to capitalize and punctuate its text output? If so, does is this capability defeated or impaired if the user speaks without natural pauses and inflection? Can text generated by voice recognition software contain spelling errors of the kind found in Radiohustla/DjFrrresh's posts?

I hope he is disabled. The alternative is much worse. I like him though.

I would ask him if he is disabled, but he never actually responds to anything anyone ever asks him. I think it's possible that he cannot read at all. The phonetic spelling and lack of punctuation - I think that when anyone asks him a question, he can't read it. That lack of response, yes, would point to someone pulling our leg. But it also speaks to him having no idea what those letters, in that order, actually say.

I did an image search on google for " dj fresh kpsu " - if the results I got are for real - then I think I may be more correct than incorrect.

He's quite a unique poster though. No doubt about it. He provides some good balance and looks like he could shoot a decent jump shot.

I would PAY to hear him on the radio - just once.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD ALLMIGHTY! Djfresh/radiohustla is FAKE, he is pulling our leg and I think it is pathetic that people are thinking he is a disabled poster.

GOD YOU PEOPLE ARE SOOOOOO GULLIBLE! Fresh is probably laughing his ass off at how gullible the pdx radio posters are.
HE IS A FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He worked at PSU and goes on many message baords playing the same dummy, LOOKING FOR SYMPATHY.
Dj Fresh is a fraud! This is the same guy at the PSU radio station. IGNORE THE TROLL, don't fall into his mindgames that he is playing on the pdx radio community. I think Dj Fresh should be a pofessional BULLSHITTER!

I used to listen to DjFresh on KPSU years ago. He sounded more coherent on mic that he seems here. Nonetheless, his work had some errors that left me thinking, "how did he let that one slip by?" For instance, he once did a promo for The Skanner. In that promo, he says that the newspaper's website address is "www theskanner dot com." It's a minor mistake that he forgot one of the dots in the website address, but he should have easily been able to catch that mistake and fix it.

Buns, hey, I'm not above laughing at myself if the joke is on me. But how do you know?

Fresh worked at the PSU radio station, and was always a joker. He also posts on other websites using his same antics. He is a joker and the joke is on us.

" He is a joker and the joke is on us."

Right. I heard that. But how do you know it? I mean, have you heard his show and he sounds much more lucid or something? I would consider that as a little bit of proof.

In any case, if he is pulling my leg - well done. I fell for it. I don't quite understand what the end game is in acting that way. But, yes, I thought it was for real. It's not SO absurd to not know it for sure. But I'll take your word for it, I guess.

Herb is not a joke. People like him really exist.

But, is the "Herb" who posts on this board a real person or a fictional character ghostwritten as a joke? I find it very peculiar that he never wants to meet with other board participants, under any circumstances.

Herb said he left because he wanted to. IMO, let's just leave it as that. My guess (no, I don't know for sure either) is whoever Herb really is, it might be someone we all know from somewhere else (radio, TV, and/or high-profile business) that wishes to remain unidentified for whatever reason. We should respect that.

As for the disabled angle... I'm fairly sure that speech-to-text software has come a long way, and so has software that lets people use other methods of input (such as holding down the shift key because they use a pen in their mouth to press keys). Much of this software used for the disabled is very expensive, and is usually partially or wholly taxpayer-funded. If it isn't, it comes out of insurance or that person's SSI--if they have insurance or enough money to cover it.

Whatever the real deal is... I think what it comes down to is regardless of exactly who it is, if you don't like the views of the user in general, don't read that comment and/or thread. Posting on a message board is not going to force someone to believe in any particular religion/denomination, or cure ADD, CP, MD, or someone miraculously grows arms.

I should also add that anyone that's considered disabled is protected by law from being forced to disclose it. They don't have to respond to a request here.

This is very true. Of course, if everybody on the board operated by this principle, some of the most spirited and entertaining threads on this board would have never happened. Evangelism can be fun to watch, that is when it is not directed at you.

I didn't know that such legal protections existed. "You learn something new every day." :-)

According to a close friend who works with the real Fresh at PSU, the PDXRadio fresh is an imposter.

Who is he pretending to be?

Wouldn't semi-literate be a more appropriate moniker?

"I should also add that anyone that's considered disabled is protected by law from being forced to disclose it."

Hmm, I don't know about that. While obviously no one need to disclose it here, but if one were to apply for SS diability income or SSI, you'd have to disclose your disability and it would need to be confirmed. Likewise, if you want ADA rights, you'd have to disclose that you're disabled first.

Skeptical, that's a good point, except that I doubt anyone here can use posts in any sort of capacity to provide someone with said benefits or said rights.

None of us have a right to know if someone here is disabled or not. Besides, posts on message boards aren't really enough to be able to know someone... they're just thoughts that have to be translated into words, the computer and the network connection have to be able to communicate them to the server, and the server has to be able to communicate them to your computer, where they're displayed on your screen and your mind can interpret (or misinterpret!) them based on your knowledge and understanding.

I think that when we've had the get-togethers, that's what this has been about. People stop by, shake hands, have a drink or some food, and talk about things in a manner where tone, voice, facial expressions, etc. are added back in.

Yes, someone can volunteer the information, or they can choose not to volunteer the information.

DJ Fresh/Radiohustla is IMHO a current or former Portland Radio personality who yes is trying to pull our leg and or make the eventual joke/ ongoing joke on us.

Some suspects:

Tiny
PK
Sonie

Marconi
