It's a good thing that me, Brianl and Darktemper don't have cattle Prods, because if we did, we woud be using them.

Judging from the response in this thread, hardly anyone considers Rush great at all. The same goes for Queen. :-)

1) Rush.

It's all downhill from there.

And yes, Queen makes the short list. I think people underestimate genius that was Freddie Mercury.

4) Beatles
5) Paul Jackson Jr.
6) Oakenfold
7) America
8) Imua Garza

11) Airto (specifically, "Branches Of The Rose Tree" since I first heard it on a tape recording of KQIV a few years ago)
12) Queen
13) Jimi Hendrix
14) Spyro Gyra
15) Linda Ronstadt (why not?)
16) U-2
17) B.B. King
18) Elvis
19) DeBarge
20) Pink Floyd (love "Dark Side Of The Moon")
21) Percy Faith & orchestra
22) Five Stairsteps
23) Diana Ross & the Supremes
24) Dennis Pavao
25) Chicago

Note that nowhere in the list did I mention The Shi*s or Pink Martini. There's a reason for that.

It is almost impossible to gauge the vast influence these groups of people had on music in the twentieth century. To me, that is why it is essential to share their output with future generations. It is impossible to narrow the list down to even two dozen. Thanks to everyone, this thread has been a great read so far!
