OK, I want as many people to participate in this thread as possible.

What were you listening to in your Car the day you got your drivers license? What Cd or tape were you listening to?? And for the old farts, what 8 track were you listening to the day you got your drivers license?

Lets have some fun with this one! If you were listening to a tape, I want the title of the CD/tape and the artist.
I got my driverse license back in early 91. I remember driving my dads suburu and I was listening to Warrent's "Cherry Pie" on his awesome new Tape player that was factory installed.

CD? Ha! Chicago, "Feeling Stronger Every Day" and The Rolling Stones's "Brown Sugar". On KISN-91, of course! In a honking big MF Chrysler Newport! :-)

On the day I got my license in 1967, I was listening to the wind and road noise in my folk's 1960 Rambler Cross Country station wagon, three-on-the-tree, no power anything. The radio was not on as I was too nervous thinking about the tests to care about listening to a stupid radio. Pretty exciting, eh?

KSKD was on. Don't remember the tunes played though.

It was on, in the car, quiet while I was taking the test. Instructor had no problem with it, and I found it relaxing.

Got my drivers license in 1971 in my parents 1964 Oldsmobile F-85 station wagon.

The radio was AM only. Probably listening to KXOX 630 AM in St. Louis. No idea what song was playing though!

It was the dead of winter in Deadwood, South Dakota, below zero with a couple feet of fresh snow, and my Baja Bug (with no heater) had no radio.

Quickest driving test in history. I backed around the corner, and the guy opened the passenger door into a snowdrift and said, "I think that's the curb. Ahh hell with it, you pass."

What were you listening to back when you just got your drivers license Brian? Since you didn't have a radio in the car, what about at home? what what on the Record player?

What was I listening to? Probably AC/DC ... Razors Edge had come out not long before that, and I was rocking out to that pretty heavy. It wasn't long after I saw them on that tour in Rapid City.

Hey Brain "Razors Edge ROCKED! I remember the first time I heard "Money talks" by ACDC, it was like finding religion for the first time. (I'm not religious, So I have no idea what that feels like, But you get the picture)

Yup Great album Brian. Although My favorite ACDC song of all time is" Whole lotta rosie"- hands down the best ACDC song, and I will take that answer to my grave!

Back then I was either listening to AC/DC, Triumph, Scorpions, Queen, etc. etc. or I had the radio tuned into 101 KRCK K-ROCK or KGON.

I was listening to the middle-aged DMV man scaring the crap outta me while barking orders, and making me parallel park in Dallas, Oregon.

Since my mom had to be in the car on the way to and from the DMV, it was probably something SHE liked. Most likely, no radio on.

After I got my license, my Mom never ran an errand, shopped, or picked up a kid after work ever again, she was SO excited. Lots of radio blasting after that, mainly KGON. it was hard to play LPs in the car!

"Oregon PM" on Golden Hours via channel 10, circa 2004......on my Sony ICF36 Velcro'd down to the dashboard, on the passenger side. (Had to drive my Mum's Yukon; I didn't have the Bronco yet! ;o)

That was on the very evening that I got my license. In celebration, I decided to take a nice, long solo drive up through Heisson, down some little backroad through Hockinson, Proebstal and finally Camas before returning home via Hiway 14. Of course, that was when gasoline was still <$1.50/gallon.

(And of course, this was on a Thursnight......so after ORPM was over, Ron & Willy's sport programme "Lion's Den" came on immediately afterward. ;o)

As I was riding with my dad in his car to and from the test, I think that the radio was most likely turned off. I have no clue what the next thing was that I listened to after passing the driver's test. Good grief, that was back in 1991!!!

The Rolling Stones- "It's Only Rock and Roll".

I got my drivers license one day after making a bet with my best high school buddy that I could get a date before he did. He thought he had the bet won, on the spot, hands down, because he had both a drivers license AND a car. AND, he had already been on actual dates. With actual girls. I had none of these advantages.

I got my license, got a date, borrowed dad's car, and won the bet. In 24 hours. It was a great moment in the history of sucker bets.

My prize? Any record I wanted. I was merciful and didn't demand a boxed set. I was satisfied with It's Only Rock and Roll.

My date? She dumped me after a couple of months. But I still have that record. Ill never get rid of it.

HMMMMMMMM, I could start a new thread titled "What song was playing in the background while YOU were getting De-flowered for the first time? But I wonder how many people actually lost their virginity while a song was playing in the background??
Should I take a poll?:-)
Actually if It was the 60's or the 70's, didn't most kids lose their virginity in the back of daddys car that they borrowed?

I distinctly remember just one song I heard that day in my Dad's van (1967 Dodge).

"Take a Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed.

Other songs I associate with my early driving career:

Frankenstein, Edgar Winter Group
Drift Away, Dobie Gray
Little Willy, Sweet
We're An American Band, Grand Funk Railroad
Right Place, Wrong Time, Dr. John
Stuck In The Middle With You, Stealers Wheel
Shambala, Three Dog Night
Diamond Girl, Seals and Crofts
Long Train Running, Doobie Brothers
Daniel, Elton John
Reelin' In The Years, Steely Dan
Hocus Pocus, Focus
Powder Blue Mercedes Queen, Mark Lindsay
(This song places me indelibly eastbound on Hansen Ave S. in Salem)

CKLW

I heard them all the way down in Toledo, Ohio when I was getting my first swimming lessons at Scott Park. Tommy Roe's "Sweet Pea" was topping the charts on CKLW.
