Windmill turbine syndrome?!?!? WTF?!?!?

Sometimes I wonder what the end game is?

Along the same lines, Do hardcore environmentalists drive cars? Have homes that need heating and cooling? Eat? Have to do a family budget? Don't drill here. No nukes. Coal is too dirty. Windmills kill birds. Dams kill fish.

So what exactly is the answer, and exactly which 6 Billion people have to get off the planet. I am about fed up with the whole thing. Recycle? not good enough. Take public transportation, bike or walk? Not good enough. Recycle bath water for yard watering? Not good enough. Set the thermostat at 60 and put on a sweater? Not good enough.

I do my best and if it's not good enough, too frickin' bad. Right now the more I hear, the less I am liable to participate. The Answer. NO PEOPLE! So to the hardcore enviros, You leave first, I'll turn off the lights and follow you in a little while.

Dr. Nina Pierpoint claims that noise from wind turbines and the moving shadows projected by the blades have been linked to a variety of symptoms, including: "sleep problems (insomnia), headaches, dizziness, unsteadiness, nausea, exhaustion, anxiety, anger, irritability, depression, memory loss, eye problems, problems with concentration and learning, [and] tinnitus (ringing in the ears)."

Even if Dr. Pierpoint can demonstrate that some people do suffer these symptoms, I think that it is a stretch to say that windmills should not be built for these reasons. All of the wind turbine locations that I have seen are in fairly remote places away from residential areas.

I wonder whether Dr. Pierpoint's work is politically motivated. Who is funding her research??

...BUT VIDEO GAMES and tv programming where the camera angle changes and no one stays on a shot for more than three seconds is just dandy.

I can't even watch NOVA any more because they MTVed the video wow ain't they hip.......

Funny, unemployment, drug abuse, alcohol, and life in general can all be linked to the same problems.

Dr. Pee must live in a tent in the deep woods of Maine, living off of wild berries and roots, while writing her findings on tree bark with a pointy stick dipped in leaf paste.

But she's a Dr. so because she gots edjimacation she must be right. Probably demands to be called DOCTOR as well.

I'm pretty sure that these would cause problems for epileptics or people who are very prone to dizziness. Years ago, I met a lady who began to suffer epileptic seizures in her early 20s. She said that she couldn't go out at night or watch certain TV shows because flashing lights and quick motion could trigger a seizure.

On Tuesday, I watched a NOVA episode about cuttlefish. The cuttlefish is an unusual creature in that its skin can glow and change in appearance, much like a chameleon. For some reason, the producers felt the need to add a low pitched sound effect, much like that of a spaceship engine in a sci-fi movie, anytime that a cuttlefish was shown undergoing one of its unusual visual feats. Why did they have to do this??? The phony sound effects left me wondering whether the video had been altered to make the cuttlefish's visual feats seem more dramatic. I really miss the days when the footage on these types of shows was either film or analog video, with little or no "enhancement."

Good, Then I'm not the only one who noticed the "ENHANCEMENTS" that NOVA is delivering.

Do numbers show this draws a younger audience?

When we are discussing alternatives to wallowing in our own filth, there is always the naysayer. Like Alfredo, I wonder which industry she is shilling for?

The dangers we continue to create through fossil fuels and nuclear fission far outweigh the risks of wind turbines. This is fantastic technology with a pretty long track record.

I would like to visit a windmill farm sometime soon to hear how bad this "Whoosh Whoosh Whoosh" noise is. Can it be more annoying than the miscellaneous noises that one hears in a typical urban or suburban area: trucks and cars, loud music, trains, etc.?

Exactly!

Drove through the Gorge earlier in the week. The wind power site looked cool. Love it, need more of it.

Heck, they could paint the damn things green and blue and just let them blend in.

I dunno about you guys but I rather enjoyed the NOVA Cuttlefish episode last Tuesday. It got my wife and I talking after the show about it.

"This is fantastic technology...And should have been up and running MAINSTREAM 25 years ago."

More like 250 years ago! I wonder if there's any Dutch literature regarding windmills adversly affecting tulip farmers in wooden shoes. It's a good thing that electricity and fossil fuel engines took over and saved all those pre-industrial-revolution people here who were driven mad by the blades constantly grinding wheat into flour. Imagine the horror! Maybe I was just absent that day and missed the assignment regarding Windmill Turbine Syndrome?

And P.S. I don't like this woman's name. Not one bit.

Dr. Waldo Pierpoint-Poindexter PH.D.MA. BA. PPA. PPM, PPS, PMS, DVD, CD-ROM, stated today that Birth is a leading cause of death. "Studies show that nearly everyone born prior to 1900 has died, and the mortality rate for persons born prior to 1885 is 100 percent. Studies for the period of 1885-1900 are incomplete but trending to match those of pre 1885." said Pierpoint-Poindexter.
