This has been out for a while now from TV preacher Robert Tilton from Dallas, TX...was big in the 80's...not a whole lot of fruit/tootin now days there...sad that a "minister of the gospel" is remembered/used this way.

Nothing sad about it.

Ironic, funny and classic, but not sad.

This "minister of the gospel" has written and published one spiritual tour de force after another. How to Be Rich & Have Everything You Ever Wanted, How to Pay Your Bills Supernaturally, and Strike It Rich are probably the three most moving texts of his many Godly works.

Tootin' Tilton is still pulling in an estimated $24 million dollars a year tax free. To put it in perspective, that is about the same yearly salary of Kevin Garnett or Jay Leno. "Pastor Gas" gets what David Ortiz and Randy Johnson make in a year combined. He makes more in 12 months than the entire ten year budget for Environmental Education and Training by the UNEP.

He is a fraud and a charlatan who will be lucky to be remembered solely for the fart video. His legacy ought to be the ABC Primetime report when he was outed by the Trinity Foundation.

Find out more about the real profits of this false prophet from Wiki.

Seeing that video again was a gas.

Actually it's annoying!

Broadway, I don't get this about you.

Now, just so you know, I was just surfing BoingBoing, and caught wind of the fart video and it was just stupid funny. Didn't know who the guy was, only that the timing of the flatuation with the video of the facial expressions was just excellent.

So, I linked it, thinking perhaps a few people would enjoy the laugh as I did. It was a basically shallow thing.

(two week business travel gigs are no fun man)

Ok, so we get a bit of word play, and then your post hits:

"Minister of the Gospel".

Just what the fuck does that mean exactly? You put it in quotes, so does that mean you recognize this guy is a first-class, full service, extra large nut-bag, or what?

That's just not clear.

Is it sad that he abused religion, or is it sad that he's remembered this way for doing it, or that the whole work is generally sad because it makes the faith look bad?

Are we really supposed to feel bad about the whole thing because some how, on some level, we are all supposed to be stupid enough to actually believe this guy had the best of intentions, but just some how totally and completely missed the mark?

What?

I just skimmed through the Wiki. BIG TIME nut-bag. HUGE!

Your whole post is dismissive, as in "don't look too closely at this. Here are the brief facts, he tried to be a man of God, and that's noble --if kind of fucked, so let's just move on and not taint the faith, trust me".

If I didn't know better, this is a lot like the drug user, trying to stand up for their favorite dealer. Never mind a few legs get broken, or a kid or two sucks down some meth, by and large that dealer is good people.

Seriously man, why not step up and clarify that a bit.

It's kind of weird as it stands right now.

Truth is, I would have just moved on from this, just laughing at the art of it. (and yes, it's art, if low brow)

Now, I just gotta wonder why anybody would stick up for another one of these nut-bags...

And I think that subtle kind of misdirection is support, not just happy ignorance. You know better Broadway.

all of the above...

Missing...you kinda answer your own questions. I don't think I have to be so descriptive to be clear about my posts.

Yes, you do.

"Seriously man, why not step up and clarify that a bit."

Broadway finds doing that impossible. He just likes to cut-n-paste, then bolt. Never any serious or thoughtful discussion, just one (or maybe 2 sentences).

no, just pithy. Don't like to muddy the waters with "deep" facts/data...if you don't understand my posts it's probable you won't ever even with more explaination.

You? Pithy? Are you serious? That's funny.

Maybe you should consult a dictionary, I don't think you know the meaning of the word. Your spelling is atrocious as well.

pithy meaning...

brief, forceful, and meaningful in expression; full of vigor, substance, or meaning; terse; forcible

from Dictionary.com (sorry, guilty of cut/paste)

"Defending brains and faith".......

Hmmmm....interesting contrast there, if not a bit ironic.... or oxymoronic, even.............

Isn't it interesting how the way people describe themselves usually shows up in there personalities as being the complete opposite?

I mean, yeah, I have made statements before as to what a fantastic MX racer I am.....doesn't necessarily mean that I am. In fact, over the last couple of years--particularly considering the economy, my health troubles and my bizarre work schedules lately--I would say I am becoming the complete opposite of it. Not such a fantastic racer nowdays.

Just be honest with yourself, Broadway. We all realise (at least I hope we all realise) that you display yourself here as being anything but "meaningful in expression; full of vigour, substance or meaning". The ability to copy & paste text does not grant you meaningful expression, substance or meaning at all. In fact, all it means is that you know a few basic keystrokes or mouse clicks.

We know it and *you* know it too. Now the only step left is for *you* to realise it as well. Only then will you be at peace with yourself, Grasshopper.

It's the first time in a long time I've heard something come out a preacher I could believe.

Sorry I couldn't resist.
