Funny you should just post that. I just spent half an hour culling through duplicate songs to delete on my 4+ year old 40GB iPod because it's full! 8,000 songs and now I either have to find something to delete before adding new stuff or buy a new iPod.

I remember when I first got it I thought I'd never run out of space.
Of course, now I rip in 256k AAC and back then it was 160k MP3, so I have to delete a bit more than one CD's worth to fit one new CD on it.

I need one of those 160GB units.

I still have my Mac SE/30 and it still runs just fine. It handles up to System 7.5. I need to find an ethernet card for it and I'll be able to get on the net with it. I remember using it for dial up in my early net days when Apple had e-World, and then my first ISP account at Teleport.

Apple, in my opinion, has been doing a pretty good job of packaging and marketing products that come across as state-of-the-art but not geeky. The various Macs started the ball rolling, but the iPod and iPhone really take the cake. Apple has become the Nike of consumer electronics in terms of how its products have become fashionable to own.

Having said that, I don't own any Apple products. The only MP3 player that I own is a $20 unit from Emprex that uses Flash memory cards for storage. This is a device that is not hip or fashionable, but it does what it is supposed to do. I have found some firmware bugs in this unit, but they are not show-stoppers.

P.S.: I haven't worn a pair of Nike shoes since about 15 years ago.

I always buy Nike gear. It supports one of Oregon's largest companies. Plus, they make great stuff.

As for the iPod, probably the best invention ever if you're a music junkie like me.

I just plugged in my first Mac, a 1986 Mac Plus... it still works great!
