Lets say you had to pick one person on this board, besides yourself to live with for one week. You have to be with them the entire week. You have to live together, eat together and spend as much quality time with this person. This has to be a person who you think is really interesting and you want to get to know them better.
It could be someone on the board who you're dying to find out who they really are, OR it could be one of the celebrities on this board like Big Tom Parker, Terry Danner ect ect.

What person would it be and WHY? And remember you have to hang out with this person NONSTOP for one week, so PICK your person wisely! If you choose too quickly it could be a very painful experience!
By the way, you're not sleeping with or dating this person, you're just hanging out with them for a week.

Lets have some fun with this one. Mine is coming soon!

hmmmm, tough choice, and as close as the Michael Phelps race. Easier decision on who you couldn't pay me to spend a day with.

With no slight to anyone I go with missingkskd.

Why? Enough common ground to validate thoughts and ideas, and enough differences in opinion to have some great give and take. Besides, he can probably get my computer running smooth. I would however change my choice to anyone who can fix the brakes on my pickup. :-D

That sounds great! We would fill the place practically!

My alternate would be Littlesongs, because I have to hang with someone who likes the same kind of music as I do, or I would go nuts. Chickenjuggler would also work in that vein.

I can't decide on just one. So it would end being a Breakfast Club/Big Chill/Dan in Real Life/Newsradio type reality house thing.

That'd be great JT!

I have a bottle of "Cabo Wabo Reposado", well a partial bottle anyway, in my cupboard at home. It is the best, better than Patron, IMO! I think Costco just sells the Blanco but you can get the better stuff at most liquor stores.

Add:
You really think the Yugo can make the haul all the way to "Lands End"?

Im there dude. Name the time and place and Im There.
This weekend I'm gonna go buy some of Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo Tequila at a liquer store. I actually woke up this morning and was Phening some Van Hagar. One of the most under-rated Van Hagar albums was "Balance" that came out in '95.
I've been rocking out to that album all day. Good stuff! I may have to go buy "Sammy Hagars" greatest hits. I own all the Van Hagar albums on CD but I don't own any of the Sammy Hagar solo stuff.
Ps- have some faith in the Yugo Darktemper, if you give it some love, it will love you back! It hasn't let me down yet:-)

I didn't know this, but last year Sammy Hagar sold 80% of the Cabo Wabo Tequila business for 800 Million.

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fsb/fsb_archive/2007/07/01/100122129/index.htm

What a great life Sammy Hagar must be living. He no longer has the pressure of being in Van Halen and can now just play in small bands, make the kind of music that he really wants to make, no pressure of record companies.
Im so jealous!

Just curious,
If they made a real-life movie based on the PDX radio get-together what would it be rated?
G, PG, pG-13, R, NC-17, or X??

If they did make a movie based on The PDX radio "one week get together" it would have to be a comedy, the humor would be slightly raunchy(but not going too far) and very political at times. I would give it an "R" rating, just to be on the safe side:-)

JT, First of all I cannot believe you don't own and solo Sammy!!!!

OK then, If you just wanna get a compilation then get "The Essential Red Collection". I have everything Sammy and would recommend "I Never Said Goodbye" and "Standing Hampton (The quintessential Sammy Hagar Album)". Other albums could and should include "Marching to Mars", "Three Lock Box" and "VOA". But do not forget about really early Sammy with the self titled "Montrose" album or the all but forgotten special project album "H.S.A.S Through The Fire". HSAS for "Sammy Hagar on vocals, Neal Schon on guitar, Kenny Aaronson on bass, and Michael Shrieve on drums." These guys tear it up and do a mean version of "Whiter Shade of Pale".

BTW, Eddie VH gave up the shredding guitar for the Bass guitar on the "I Never Said Goodbye" album so Sammy has that role!

I would like to buy all the sammy hagar Cd's seperately but There are FAR Too many albums coming out within the next few months- Guns N roses, Metallica, ACDC.

Classic Rock fans will be in heaven these next 4-6 months, since many Classic rock bands are coming out with Brandnew material.

Of course if it were a reality show it would have to be filmed only in the beginning and ends in Portland with the majority being filmed in some tropical locale.

I guess I have seen one too many episodes of reality television shows of various types.

Intros of all the partcipants meeting seemingly randomly on there way to said tropical local. Then at the end its reminising about time spent in tropical locale along with the senitimental montages of various highlights of the tropical locale.

And of course it is envitable that a couple of things are going happen: Someone is going to get kicked off or leave the party early. Someone is going to surprisingly come out of the closet within the first episode and or a shocker in the middle of the show. Everyone will eventually get drunk some will cry, some with shiat or pee their pants in the process of getting drunk, and someone will either get hurt while getting drunk or break something else within the ridiculously nice tropical locale.

And for some stupid reason there will be a competition or task built into the show because its only more entertaining that way.

So I guess in the case of the PDXradio reality house show the said tropical local would be Cabo San Lucas Mexico (because that is seemingly the most brought up tropical locale again and again on this board) And being that its the PDXradio reality show the task involved throughout the show would be that of running an actual radio station in Cabo. Of course that would be the cause of alot of entertainment and interesting dynamics of the show because none of the houseguests wants to run a Spanish speaking station in a Mexican market and no one in the house will be able to speak enough spanish to ever take on a on-air personality role with the station as is demonstrated within the first couple of episodes when the comedy is that none of us can order half a meal out using our spanglish.

You can't tell me though that there is not a network out there that wouldn't want this raunch, yet at the same time nerdy idea on there network.

Hey I've been watching alot of MOJO lately maybe they are up to the task?

So who is in? Oh and I almost forgot everyone here on this board wants in so we all have to make those lame tapes telling the shows producers why we want on the show. And in the audition process they will surely pick out the most entertaining and most potential for manipulation when it comes to casting with that one token mentally unstable person thrown in just for fun!

Hey Hey now lets not banter about who is the most mentally unstable of the bunch that person has already been casted and Jacquel is all ready to make her surprise appearence after the envitable kicked off incident happens as there replacement.

Ok this is getting scary!

If it is along the lines of Big brother, or Survivor, Most of us don't have the looks for the show.
Reality shows have very few "regular people"
Some of us are too old, too fat, or otherwise unappealing. YOu would probably have to "You Tube" it and go from there.

BTW, what is the prize? (The New York radio station for sale on ebay?)

!!!!

YES!

Absolutely the most brilliant idea yet!

We can tell the story of each of us, one at a time, finding this place, getting sucked in by the others already there, and from there it gets interesting!

A quick look through the archives reveals many South Park quality episodes. Screw the TV, release it direct to DVD, self-pimp it on the Internets, and let word of mouth do exactly what it did for South Park.

God, we are a vain and self-absorbed bunch at times. Well, at least it's fun to muse over that kind of thing, isn't it?

If there were such a "reality" show, I am certain that talk about what is wrong with the media would creep in at some time. I would complain that the reason that the network is in such financial dire straits is because they do extravagant things like paying to send the cast to a far away place instead of having a mission based in the Portland area, such as saving KBMS. I would also point out that it is silly to do a "Portland Radio" program from a setting that no Portland radio station's signal (other than perhaps KEX) can reach. 62kgw would complain if there are no AM Stereo stations receivable from the location where the show is videotaped, and he would say that a more appropriate focus for the show should be a quest to restore the old Super-62 or KISN.

Now the PDX Radio house idea with a "lab top," as pointed out earlier would be appealing to me because I could use that work bench to troubleshoot and assemble circuits.

Random thought as our PDXradio reality show will never make it to air is this:

If I ever come into some extreme wealth we will bypass the reality show and just do a yearly PDXradio "camp"/weekend get together at the coast.

Odds are against me BUT I feel as though I am destined to one day hit the lottery something good!

I don't think that the idea of a group campout or "retreat" is that far-fetched. This doesn't have to be anything too fancy. If each of the participants pays his or her share, it could be very affordable.

ADD: One of the activities that I'd like to have for the techies amongst us could involve DXing and bringing unusual radios and equipment to "play with" and for show & tell. If other HAMs show up, things could get pretty interesting.

With regards to the scheduling, I had a really pleasant surprise in store for me about a week ago: the company that I'm working for now is counting the 4 years that I worked for them before being laid off in 2002. They have given me 160 hours of sabbatical time. I can be very flexible in my scheduling, as long as I schedule around a big group project that we'll be working on in September.

"Hmmmpf!

OK. Fine. I'm going on a road trip with Edsel, MonkeyBoy, Roger, TheDude, Justin, Warner, Beano, Shy and Moto.

We'll toss Maroon 5, Josh Groban, and Clay Aiken CDs at your car like Ninja blades as we pass y'all!

Enjoy! And eat our dust, ya babies!"

ROTFLMAO! :-)
But,I must admit,I have been guilty of listening to Maroon5 once or twice.
I'll go spin some Pantera ASAP to make up for it!

I think a little road trip sabotage is in order. I think it highly likely that the only sound out of the estrogen wagons speakers is likely to be all Rick Roll all the time!

I'm thinkin' this could be a race. They don't call me "Frankenstein" on road race's for nothin'. Have scorecard will travel!

I'm not ridin' bitch!

Merk before we go, we have to stop and pick up Jeffrey. I know he has some free time now.

We also need to swing by his old place, moon the GM, and toliet paper the station vehicles!

Call me sheltered or lacking in culture: I don't think that I have ever heard "Treetop Flier." I was reading through the lyrics, and they did not ring a bell.

Alfredo--
It's the bonus cut at the end of Jimmy Buffet's record "Banana Winds". I think I may have heard that record/song at least 10,000 times whilst growing up...........

But that is not the "infamous" version that keeps getting referred to around here. The true "Treetop Flier" is sung by David Crosby, and it is a song that KINK, for some unknown reason, used to play from time to time, even though many have wondered how and why such a miserable song could receive airplay so frequently.

Wanna see me chew off my own ears?

"used to play"?

They're probably (Stephen) STILL(s) playing it! If I cared, I'd go look on KINK's playlist log, I'd bet $10 that's it's been played in the last week.

you're right...it was Stephen Stills. It shows you that I'm almost (but not quite) completely successful in purging it from memory.

What a painful song! I feel bad for all those jocks at Kink that are stucking listening to that. It almost makes KID ROCK sound like a brilliant songwriter.(ok that might be going a bit far, but you get the picture!)

My favorite line in "treetop Flyer" is

"Don't pay taxes because I never file". (LOL)

Hey Merkin, was that Stephenn Stills perfoming "treetop Flyer" in the Kink Live performance lounge last week??

Now I'm trying to remember was it Steven Stills or David Crosby who gave a generous helping of his sperm to Melissa Ethriidge a few years back?

I like Steven Still, BUT this is definitely NOT one of his better endeavors!!!

Cool video though. I'd love to go for a plane ride like that!!

It was David Crosby that made the donation.

Can you imagine what that poor kid looks like???

OF all the potential sperm donors Melissa Ethridge had to chose from, she picked David Crosby??? WTF??

Crosby is not known for his dashing chisled body. This is going to be one ugly kid!

YUCK! Old man sperm!
I wonder if Mr. Crosby had to use a penis pump and Viagra while giving his "Donation." :-)

Bill O'Reilly trying to speak over Melissa Etheridge last night:

"Boy, that Melissa Etheridge has got a set of lungs...way to go Melissa. Time for a break"...I think he meant time for her to take a break.

Hilarious. Meanwhile, CNN was carrying atleast part of the song live.
