Little Feat has a new album out.

It is comprised of classic Little Feat songs but with various artists joining the band.

Some of the artists featured are;
Bob Seger
Jimmy Buffet
Dave Mathews
Vince Gill
Bela Fleck
Emmylou Harris
Brooks & Dunn

And a raft of others.

If you are a Feats fan go get it. You won't be sorry.

I have forgotten, but isn't there some sort of strong tie to Portland and Little Fe(e)(a)t? Like, a live recording or something?

CJ, I'm not sure so I did what any good computer nerd would do, I Googled it!

The first link is a history of the band and the next 2 links are from their July 2006 concert here in Portland.

I missed the concert, but I'm going next time for sure!

The strong ties to Portland goes back much further, to the earliest days of the band, their first two lineups with Lowell George, and all the albums up to Down On The Farm.

I first saw them before moving here in 1976 back in Pa. After I got here and starting working for KVAN 1480, I saw them play here at (I think) the old venue on SE 2nd (name escapes me).

Having originated in L.A. when Lowell left the Mothers of Invention, Portland has been an often visited location for Little Feat since the beginning.

Thanks! That place rocked. My first Jimmy Buffett show, Bonnie Raitt, Muddy Waters, my first Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen show, Country Joe MacDonald, Poco, Bobby & The Midnites (Ratdog), and a host of others I just don't recall ...

Jimmy Buffett named his first real boat after the tavern, the tavern itself named after a song by The Holy Modal Rounders.

Trivia buffs:

The song "Ride Like The Wind" on the 1979 self-titled album by Christopher Cross was dedicated to Lowell George.

Jackson Browne memorialized George in his 1980 song "Of Missing Persons", written about George and addressed to his daughter, Inara George who is in The Bird and the Bee.

I would play these songs back to back at my college radio station then do a Little Feat tune.

Billy Payne, Little Feat's keyboardist is one of my personal musical heroes.
