It's called a CONVENTION BOUNCE. Anyone familiar with presidential politics was expecting one. The question is, will it last? (And I saw a poll today showing McCain up by 3, not 1%.) In any case, this is a meaningless "general election" poll. What really matter are the 50 state polls.

The best source I've found for electoral college/state polling is http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/

Nothing could ever be worse than Kerry losing in 2004, trust me my friend.

I actually am not terribly worried about McCain being president. I could live with him, perhaps more than I could live with Bush winning. But can he live with us for four years? What I am worried about is Sarah Palin being our VP. Yikes!

I've thought since around the beginning of the year that McCain was being set up to win the election.

Hey I agree Andrew, Nobody could mess up this country as bad as Bush. I think Mccain would do a lot of good!

Don't get me wrong, I would not be happy to see McCain elected; I would be greatly disappointed. I would be much less disappointed if he hadn't picked the least qualified VP candidate in history to be his running mate. I don't think McCain as president would do the country any good - just keep it headed in the wrong direction for another four years, assuming he's still around in four years.

This video has got to hurt!.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpjAs4vtc1w&feature=related

Name me a president who has had less experience than Obama?

You dems are so worried about Palins lack of experience, but Obama sure doesnt have a heck of a lot on his resume.

Biden is a TOTAL FLIP FLOPPER! I don't even think Joe Biden is really sure if Obama is qualified to be president.

Name me a president who has had less experience than Obama?

How about we start with Harry S. Truman, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.

Barack Obama has a record that is very similar to Abraham Lincoln.

Abe and Barack served the people of Illinois as community leaders and civic minded lawyers. They both spent two terms in the state senate and went to Washington D.C. as Senators from the same district. They both have more concrete experience as legislators and reformers than the last four Presidents combined.

Sarah Palin has a record that is very similar to George W. Bush.

George brought a baseball park to DFW that cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. He cannot tie his own shoes. Sarah brought a recreation center to Wasilla that cost the taxpayers millions of dollars. She wears pumps. Does that answer your question?

Beano: You dems are so worried about Palins lack of experience, but Obama sure doesnt have a heck of a lot on his resume.

Obama has been vetted by 18 endless months on the campaign trail, having to persuade millions of voters to support him based on his merits, vision, and leadership. He's had to face the scrutiny of the national media endlessly and take on Democratic heavyweights in debates. He took on the Clinton machine (which beat George H. W. Bush after he won the Gulf War) - and won. This guy is no empty suit, much as you would like to claim so.

How has Sarah Palin been vetted? She hasn't had the opportunity to speak yet without talking points or extensive coaching by McCain's advisers. She hasn't had to compete on the national stage. She's been on the national stage for NINE DAYS. We have no clue about her poise under pressure or her ability to understand complex ideas or deal with the rigors of the presidency. What I do know about her beliefs - her championing of teaching creationism in schools, her opposition to abortion even in cases of rape and incest - terrifies me. And of course, she has the same history of seeking pork spending as anyone else. She "took on" a corrupt system in Alaska that was already so crooked that even Jack Abramoff would look clean. She's not "maverick" any more than McCain is.

You are totally delusional if you think Sarah Palin has proven anything of her ability to serve as president other than her ability to inspire the hard-core Christian right and deliver the speech McCain's people wrote for her. Her first interview with Gibson next week is being touted as some sort of big achievement - even though Obama has done dozens of these things.

The experience thing is kind of funny to me. We're not electing some micromanaging department head, here...we're electing someone to rally the nation out of this funk, while proposing a set of legislation that the Congress may or may not agree to, and making a whole ton of appointments of people who will hire the people who will hire the people who will hire the people who will need to have the kind of administrative experience we're talking about, and not just a bunch of cronies and donors like Bush gave us. It's at the latter level that Sarah's experience could be applicable, which is a pretty basic fact. Carter screwed up by acting like the Presidency was like being city manager; he got involved in all kinds of intricate details, and it blew up for him.

We're due for somebody who'll be on a postage stamp in 50 years, not someone with their name stenciled on a parking slot that says 'Mgr."

Hey, off topic, but this Google Chrome thing is pretty slick!

Set up by whom?
Illuminati, Bilderbergers, Council on Foreign Relations, Asians, Arabs, Bohemian Grove-goers, the Pentagon, Wal-Mart, General Motors, an alphabet agency... pick any of these or some other "unspeakable" secret society, and there's a theory behind it.

Based on the fact he won the nomination, I'm certain there's a lot of people who think he's qualified.

However, qualified is not a term we can use when describing Palin. If McCain dies, she's it. That's a terrifying thought if you ask me.

Well, with the polls as CLOSE as they are, its apparent that there are a lot of people still not sure if Obama really has the credentials to run the country.

And when Biden is not sure if Obama is ready for presidency than HOUSTON, WE'VE GOT A PROBLEM!

National polls don't mean shit. Electoral votes do. Check out the 538 website and track the state polls and assosicated electoral votes. The electoral advantage is in Obama's corner in a big way. McCain has his work cut out. National polls are meaningless.

yes...electoral college is where the real numbers count in elections...don't think they have much influence on voters...the decider battleground states is where all the action always is.
