"Man alleges that the radio station’s shows serve the Republican Party, not the public".

Question: Why isn't he also suing the "Air America" station?

LOL

Apparently the gentleman has not heard of the fine American art of self-censorship.

Y'know, if you don't like what is on, change the F'N STATION!

There are TWO KNOBS ON THE RADIO! Or, as George Carlin said, "He's probably afraid of anything, with two knobs on it."

Is the gentleman able to get an "Air America" station with a decent signal in his home?

I just checked the Air America affiliate list. That's the problem! He's not hearing the other side.

Article says "that they (KRLA) misrepresented their promise to the Federal Communication Commission to serve the “public interest, convenience and necessity.”

Guess I can go after the country stations now.

I would guess that the average GM or PD hasen't spent 30 sec. of time a year, thinking about the"public interest, convenience and necessity".
They always say the right words to the public, but....who gives a rats ass about it. IMO.In my 36 years in the business. I never saw anyone who was really concerened about "the public interest, convenience and necessity" .

Note that the owner of KRLA is Salem Communications. I would be willing to bet that this is a calculated, politically motivated lawsuit. It is unlikely that Salem could make the case that they have broadcast offerings that "balance out" the conservative content offered on KRLA, as the corporate slogan is, "Reaching audiences interested in Christian and family content and conservative values on air, online, and in print." (See http://www.salem.cc/ )

>>broadcast offerings that "balance out" the conservative content

but at this point the FCC cares less about format or programming except for obsenities...but wait...there might be more if the (un)Fairness Doctrine gets voted (back) into law by a Democratic Prez and Congress...that'll all go to the Supremes to ultimately decide years later...we love America!

That reminds me... that annual list of things current incoming college freshmen know/don't because they're about 18/19 or so is out... one of the things on the list (according to a wire article in the paper a few weeks ago) is that they've never heard a radio station be required to provide more than one point of view on any given issue!

Group Protests Conservative Reno Radio Station

Some had signs saying "Clean Up Your Act," "KKOH or KKKOH?" and "Hate is Not Accepted in Reno."
