To try and spin that would be hypocritical. False modesty does not suit him. I don't know if he was trying to appeal to Clinton supporters by meeting them halfway or what.
So what exactly has he " set straight " now? That he's...what? What path is he trying to lay down with a statement like that? What am I supposed to do with that?
What I would actually like to know from him is " Do you REALLY believe that? "

Well why does he have to say anything? He should have said " Thanks. " and moved on.
Issues and non-issues vary by who is asking about them. Taking it out this far put him out further than he needed to go.
Again though, it won't make ME vote for McCain. And there ARE things that would. This is not one of them.

If he'd just said "thanks", then the Republican spinners and Hannity and Rush and all those nimrods would have made a big deal that he was dissing Hilary. So he took the high road and complimented her.
As Vitalogy said, a non-issue. Or, and example of an honest politician. Either way, a good thing.

Its a better choice than going with someone who THINKS he's qualfied, but not. Biden has shown he is capable of learning, if needed.
But we're blowing the whole thing out of proportion. If someone asks Biden directly if he's qualified, he'll reply yep.
