Bam!

Palin is gonna have to stick with the Republican playbook, or fall down hard. Really, she's stepped up for quite a gamble here.

Had she not taken the nomination, she could have very likely continued to build her base of power in Alaska, mostly unknown for some time.

Now, it's all in, or out of the game.

She's gonna play the hardest ball that can be played as a result.

This article says she is capable of exactly that.

From the article:

But an examination of her swift rise and record as mayor of Wasilla and then governor finds that her visceral style and penchant for attacking critics — she sometimes calls local opponents “haters” . . .

Let me highlight something in the quote:

she sometimes calls local opponents “haters”

I see Herb. That pretty much wraps up Palin for me.

Is this the most recent topic at pdxradio.com bashing Sarah Palin? There's so many I can't be sure.

There's an election coming up. Of course we're evaluating candidates. We're not all simpletons taking orders from talk radio hosts.

Who are you kidding. You and the rest of the monkeys here have made your mind up long ago. You are not evaluating anything. The mission now is to slander palin cause you know that since the convention McCain is now leading in the polls.

Your scared, you see her as a threat to your big speech no substance canidate.

DD, I'm hoping for about 14 more threads HATING on her. If the shoe were on the other foot your side would be bashing her for her daughter being prego and not married. No? Liar!

I am wasting my vote on Ron Paul

Ya know I was just watching MSNBC and they predicted that the demos might start a different approach to winning the elections since attacking Palin isnt working.

And actually I did make up my mind. Happened late 2003. Decided right then and there to do a coupla things:

1. Switch registration to the Democratic party.

2. Get informed politically.

This involved having some discussion, and some of that is here, some elsewhere. Hard to get up to speed and feel comfortable talking about this stuff, without actually talking about this stuff! The group here is just great. It's diverse, friendly, and takes seeing good, solid points realized seriously.

Can't ask for better. I've not found better.

3. Speak out early and often.

After seeing things in play, I came to the realization that a significant portion of the burden for us being in this mess has to do with us being lazy --somewhat apathetic. There was also a chilling effect, largely projected by big business. That effect biased conversation, as if it were both not cool to talk politics and be siding with left / liberal minded people.

Fuck that.

So, speaking out regularly has brought me some confidence in these matters and has helped me clarify where I stand on a lot of stuff. Having taken a beating on it and still standing, I have few issues now and am able to converse and advocate and that is important.

Speak out, or be spoken for.

All across the nation, and in many parts of the world, forums just like this one are filled with lots of people looking to get some answers and some release on tension surrounding this very poor Presidency.

Today, people are talking more. Used to be I brought it up. Now they do. Part of why they do is because others are doing it, so they don't feel alone. Another part of it is directly related to people like me taking the time to start the conversation, commit to remaining friends and being sure to listen and listen hard to what they have to say.

Why?

Because it matters.

And, because it matters, we need a greater social pressure to be placed on those who hold indefensible positions. (bigotry, racism, gender discrimination, etc...) We also need that pressure to make sure ignorance hurts some!

That takes care of the gross misunderstandings about taxes, economy, impact of big business, privatization and other things.

It's gotta just suck to be one of the 23 percenters (the base), or they have absolutely no incentive to do otherwise, and will have greater success in converting others to their flawed and dangerous cause.

We have the first amendment for a reason. It's not a shield, and it's not unlimited. It is however how we get stuff fixed, and I for one, have a keen and VESTED interest in helping that along however I can.

I donate, I phone bank, I blog, I talk, I listen, I try to live in a way that demonstrates that liberal is not only ok, but a damn fine way to live.

She then took her base and made them employees.

All I can say to that is

"Brownie your doing a heck of a job."

Goodnight Palin.
