I've noticed it too. It bothers me. What should we do about it? Anything? I'm just getting so worried about this. It's near the top of how I make decisions. I'm really starting to get really spooked about Obama over this issue of stammering.

Maybe stem cell research is needed in this area?

Maybe he has a cancer near his mouth...4 times.

Or maybe, just maybe, he's speaking to the idiots who have been trained to respond to that kind of talking. But if he plays the " Mother, may I mambo dog face in the banana patch? " ONE more time " When is actually trying to ask permission to go to the bathroom " - Heck. Maybe Ron Paul will get my vote.

I miss Perot's ominous threats of America having to deal with a mollasses shortage because the barns were left without owls in them for too long.

....so is this the countermove that we can expect to see Republicans use to counter attacks on McCain's lack of ability to use a telepropmter at all? He's OLD SCHOOL. Chiseles and tablets and sundials- trying to court that Heterodontosaurids demographic that McCain can really relate to.

They were strong, but had very short arms with which they could only attend to the safety of the eggs. Which is not far from the Republican platform today.

Palin / McCain in 2008! Let's go BACK to The Land Of The Lost! Sleestacks will ocupy her cabinet. The Northern Lights are actualy wormholes with which to get giant Strawberries. And Cha-ka can still be Ross Perot.

Raaaaawwrrrr!

Problem solved.

He just has bad "brain to mouth" genes in the candid on your feet adlib speaking environment...which is very much a talent to do well and what Palin has...don't know if it can be learned...any speech therapist out there?

Yes, I'd like to invite you all to a public speaking lab where you will all be given a short interview of questions worded slightly ambiguously and while we point 4 halogen spotlights in your face we'll count how many times you "um" and "er."

"but I'm not running for president"

Thank the Lord.

Those of you that have ever taken a speech or public speaking course know that it's all about the flow, keeping command of the energy level, not having any "dead air." Mastering the pregnant pause is not easy. In the political arena, if you cede the flow, hecklers can be heard and be quite distracting. Keeping the attention focused on you, the speaker, is paramount and many politicians develop verbal ticks to fill this dead space as it keeps them prime focus as well as give them 1/2 a second to collect thoughts for the right answer.

Then again, our present MIO (moron in occupancy) in the White House is hardly a polished speaker.

He stammers because he's doing it live, actually considering his answers in the context of the overall discussion and their implications. This is not to say he does not have a bunch of stuff packaged up and written to sell.

Everybody does.

But, he does not always use that, or wants to use it, but is thinking about who he is talking to and where and sometimes that warrants a change not scripted.

Palin? She's just coughing up dogma.

Big difference!

I like it frankly. Giving us some consideration is very welcome. Somebody that does not care, does not stammer. Think about that.

Hey, I didn't vote for that SOB.

Not even once.

And Obama rules, sans teleprompter. The others are not even in the same class.

Missing_kskd got it 100% correct.

He doesn't want a sound bite to work against him, so he searches what words to use as any good leader would.

Oh no I said he was a good leader. I guess he will be.

Some politicians blurt. Obama thinks while he talks. That sometimes involves some fishing for the correct words. It is not stammering. I don't see the problem with this.

perhaps percieved stammering here...there is a noticable difference in his verbal communication skills when he's "on his feet" adlibing vs. prepared speechs read from the prompter although a lot of people/politicians would do the same.

Oh the gift of good communication.

Reagan stammered many times during unprepared, non-scripted moments, yet he was known as the great communicator.

I know many radio people who sound great on the air but can't stand on their feet in front of a crowd.
