Pink Floyd is to me what the Beatles, the Stones, or the Dead are to their hardcore fans. I am sad to hear that he passed. Some of their piano/keyboard work was incredible. He will be missed.

There was a thread a while back that asked if you could only listen to one artist for all eternity, who would it be? I'd have to say Pink Floyd would be that choice for me. Timeless music that one can listen to and never tire of.

Richard Wright also composed "Us and Them"
from 'Dark Side of the Moon'...

"Sorrow" "Signs of Life" and "Terminal Frost" from "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" and "Marooned" "Coming Back to Life" and "High Hopes" from "The Division Bell" are awesome to kick back and zone out with! While being an avid everything Pink Floyd fan I really like the post Waters albums.

Check out this great Pink Floyd Box Set:

While I'm not sure about "The Division Bell", "Momentary Lapse of Reason" IS a superb CD.

Just the other day I zoned out to 1000 watts of "Meddle" at 3AM not giving a frick what the neighbor thought.

AH, you're of those considerate neighbors.

If you liked "Momentary Lapse of Reason" then you will most definately like "Division Bell".

What did you guys think of "division Bell" that came out around 94?

I was a big stoner around that time and I remember all the hype around that album. I remember listening to that album stoned off my butt and thinking "This is just ok". I had really long hair that went down to my nose sO i could get away with just about anything. going to class at PSU stoned and listening to Pink Floyd pretty much summed up a great deal of the 90's for me.

To Missing: Thanks I had a relative tell me about the boards and it seems like you guys (and gals) cover a variety of topics. :-)

I saw Pink Floyd on the Division Bell tour. I won tix off the radio. They were fan-freakin-tastic. The Division Bell was an ok album, imo. A Delicate Sound of Thunder is still one of my all-time favorite live albums. As far as being timeless yes, yes, yes. I believe anyone that owns a CD player should have Dark Side of the Moon. Even if they don't listen to it much, that album is incredible. And "Us and Them" is my favorite song. So, knowing that Wright wrote the song (Waters had almost exclusive control of lyrical content), makes me appreciate him all the more.

In 94 I was busy with three kids 7yr, 5yr, and a 1yr old. No time for music back then. Although, there were certain nights I can remember when one child just would night go to sleep so a little drive in the car seat with Pink Floyd on the stereo and a full Baby Bottle seemed to knock them out.

Now don't go getting all upset, I was only kidding about giving those bottles to the kids, they were mine!

I have to admit I've been a fan since their first album. Yeah, it was a little on the spacey side, but there was something there that connected for me.

"Richard Wright also composed "Us and Them"
from 'Dark Side of the Moon'... "

Actually, Richard has co-songwriting credits on "Breathe In the Air," "On The Run," "Time," "The Great Gig In The Sky," "Us And Them" and "Any Colour You Like" on Dark Side Of The Moon.

For me, back in the days of live all night radio, Pink Floyd was indispensable. Nothing compares at that level. They have many great albums, timeless songs and truly great live recordings.

"The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in gloom of the sickroom
And talk to yourself as you die.

Life is a short, warm moment
And death is a long cold rest.
You get your chance to try in the twinkling of an eye:
Eighty years, with luck, or even less.

So all aboard for the American tour,
And maybe you'll make it to the top.
And mind how you go, and I can tell you, 'cause I know
You may find it hard to get off.

You are the angel of death
And I am the dead man's son.
And he was buried like a mole in a fox hole.
And everyone is still in the run.

And who is the master of fox hounds?
And who says the hunt has begun?
And who calls the tune in the courtroom?
And who beats the funeral drum?

The memories of a man in his old age
Are the deeds of a man in his prime.
You shuffle in gloom in the sickroom
And talk to yourself till you die."

RIP Richard.

@Moman74 Well, not everybody hates us then!

Good!

Yeah, we get into it. I can honestly say this is a damn fine group. We mix it up, sometimes hard, but in the end it's time well spent --->to me anyway!

Have fun and write with no fear.

AH, you're of those considerate neighbors.

My closest neighbor in the line of speaker fire is 5 acres away. He clearcut his land and hauled up a single wide mobile trailer from Mississippi and collects Hillbilly Tradition eyesores and non-functioning construction equipment from the 60's.

By comparsion, I'm a model neighbor! :-)

Richard Wright was a vastly underrated talent as a songwriter. Remember A Day, Summer '68 and See Saw are three of my all time favorites. He will be missed forever.
