So, I got one Monday and love it! Anyone else out there in cyberland receive theirs yet? It takes a little getting used to, the screen is touch sensitive but you have to press the screen as you would a mouse button to activate things. It even comes with an 8GB MicroSD card already installed. The CD supplied did not work so the only problem I had was that I had to download the 300mb desktop manager software from Verizon.

I already have a hard enough time not getting distracted by having Internet access at my desk at work. Thus, I am saying "no, no, no" to BlackBerries, iPhones, and similar devices. :-( Putting one of these devices in my hands would be like giving candy to somebody with rampant tooth decay.

I thought Crackberry was a reference to California's PinkBerry yogurt chain.

Me too.

(could probably really use one though)

They are excellent devices. Be sure and setup the bluetooth internet tethering. It can get you online in a pinch!

You can just hook it up to a laptop with a USB cable and then with VZACCESS software use it as a broadband high speed modem. Oh ya, this one has a browser that actually looks like a browser. That is huge improvement!

Totally. I liked the bluetooth simply because it was possible to just fire off the two, get connected, then not have to deal with the cable.

So, how comfy is it to enter a LOT of text compared with the T-mobile Sidekick?

Couldn't tell ya, never used a sidekick. Did have a crappy experience the one time we used T-Mobile so I drop kicked them to the curb! Does that count?

My top priority for a wireless device is the keyboard. When RIM came out with their first device years ago, I was one of the first buyers. Later when the first Blackberry came out it was based on the same excellent keyboard.

Unfortunately, the new Blackberry's keyboard doesn't have good reviews for those who text primarly leaving the Sidekick the device of choice.

Here's some quotes from NYT's gadget reviewer David Pogue:

"How did this thing ever reach the market? Didn’t anyone at RIM actually try it? Or was everyone involved just too terrified to pull the emergency brake on this train?"

"Isn’t the thumb keyboard the defining feature of a BlackBerry? A BlackBerry without a keyboard is like an iPod without a scroll wheel."

Even the iPhone isn't very appealing to me because of the lack of a keyboard. It looks like the new Blackberry has gone down this road. In fact, some reviewers are saying its harder to type on than the iPhone.

Disappointing. I really would have liked to upgrade from the SK's network.

Ohhh F*$%!!

I have a couple friends who are absolutely ADDICTED to those damn things.

It's sad when you're in bed with your girl, and she'd rather play with her damn phone than you.

I will *NEVER* Buy one. EVER. Nor an iPhone.

Oh-oh, looks like the Blackberry Storm and iPhone is getting some competition in 2009. Nokia's N97 is a iPhone-lookalike with a FULL qwerty keyboard!
