They announced today that tomorrow will be the last day on the TV subcarrier... but after that, you can listen online, they did not mention KOPB-HD3 one way or the other.

The last program of "Eugene Sound" on OPB TV subcarrier AND KOPB-HD3 aired today, the shutdown of the AIS on OPB is scheduled for April 20. They urged listeners to contact OPB with comments. Eugene Sound will continue on line.

And the last words spoken on Golden Hours last night, via the subcarrier: "This has been an R-L-G production." This is how Rod Gowan ends all (I believe) his OTR programming. Then it went into classical music until about 12:20 or so this morning, when they immediately "flash-cut" (if you can call it that) to a feed of the "Minnesota Talking Radio Books Network" which they were carrying for a few hours this morning.

At this moment it is a silent carrier. I have no idea if it is just in between MTRBN programming (dead air) or if indeed the subcarrier is finished.

R.I.P. 1975-2008, you aren't forgotten--O Golden Hours, we hardly knew thee...........

KOPB-HD3 has been "dead air" this morning, and just disappeared, KOPB-HD2 was off for a few minutes, and just came back... bet it has more kb/second now.

The HD3 is gone completely. I don't know that codecs have progressed to the point that the third channel works very well. It certainly wasn't the case here.

My HD radio is *again* indicating KOPB-HD3 but it is just "dead air" right now (but I have heard short bursts of audio). PAD ID is back on KOPB-HD2. All KOPB HD was off for about an hour this morning (even though the HD transmitter was on) . Still an "echo" when KOPB analog switches to KOPB-HD1.

It's just "dead air" right now on the SAP channel, too, with the occasional "audio bursts" (but in this case, it is actually high frequency cross-talk off the main audio channel......something Ibiquity or any other DAB system doesn't have, as I am aware. ;o) The Minnesota RRS I wrote about earlier still appears to be M.I.A. as well.

I had originally thought that when they stopped the Golden Hours signal, that they might switch the SAP over to a simulcast of the main audio, with occasional Spanish or descriptive tracks, as KOIN, KPTV and probably others have done for at least a few years now. Haven't heard any such thing out of KOPB, tho...........

Right now the only OPB HD station on is KOPB-HD... KOPB-HD2 is gone as well as KOPB-HD3...Whats going on?

KOPB-HD still has a slight "echo" when switching from KOPB analog.

When the HD2 was on without HD3, I thought it sounded better, more robust.

===============================================================

I am surprised Evergreen Radio Reading Service hasn't started broadcasting in this market by now. It can be picked up in the Dalles as I found out last weekend (via a translator of KPOU from Yakima) but I am surprised a station here (KMHD, KBPS, KOPB heaven forbid......) hasn't picked it up.

Maybe I will ring WTBBL sometime next week.........
