Just heard a produced announcement on 107.5--they're becoming "Jammin 107.5."

In the meantime, they're running Jammin's format, complete with "Jammin 95.5" sweepers--not a simulcast of 95.5 though!

Playhouse from 5-10 AM starts Tuesday, May 13th.

It's true! It is great to see the CHR/Rhythmic remaining on Portland radio, but I think 107.5 really needs a new name than Jammin. Maybe Hot 107.5 or Kiss 107.5!

I cannot believe what I'm hearing!!! 107.5 is now simulcasting 95.5. There is a delay of about 1.5 seconds on the 107.5 audio.

Ok,

So I'm wondering what the lame programming message is on z100portland.com about taking over another station Monday at 9am. Will there be a format swap? Will we see any talent moving with KXJM and this whole simulcast thing?

Gotta say on my drive home I was surprised at 107.5 simulcasting 95.5 but Z100 also threw me for a loop...

So here is a question.

Are all the Original Jammin jocks coming to 1075???

I have to hand it to CBS for actually putting some money and effort into 1075. I think they jumped onto this format because if they didn't, somebody else would! In the mean time Id love to hear Stacey Lynn back on the afternoons on 1075 if thats possible!

As far as Z100 goes, THEY WILL BE TOAST!!!!! What Lame syndicated show will Z100 be starting on Monday??? Does this mean Z100 will actually start putting on some decent radio with LIVE TALENT???? COME ON CHEAP CHANNEL, the voice tracking is not going to work any longer!!

Its definitely 1075 per wweek.com but I still wonder about the message on z100portland.com and what they are promoting.

Who cares what Z100 is doin? C'mon guys its Cheap Channel. It will be some :Lame syndicated show! Z100 is doing this on purpose to draw attention to Z100, but the problem is Z100 won't be changing anything. They will continue to be Cheap and Voice track, and they WILL GET THEIR ASSES KICKED By 1075!
Z1blunder will be history soon!

Beano,

I care... Reason being its a change in Portland radio. We all know whats happening to Jammin now but it seems as if we have one more change coming and I want to know what it is.

This is probably the biggest period in the last 5 years for this market. We've had small changes all along, but have you ever seen one company purchase simulcast rights from another in the market and have 2 format changes and maybe 3 on the same day?

Maybe it will be history, thats why I'm talking about it.

Sorry Dr, Chaps, I didn't mean it like that! I find it interesting also, BUT knowing Z100 Dave is just Screwing with everyone. Do you honestly think that Z100 will start to put on better radio now that Jammin is on 1075? I don't think so, Cheap channel is too cheap to put on great radio!

The simulcast delay would make sense now, as I'm not familiar enough with the music to notice the difference. It almost sounds like 107.5 is broadcasting the online feed of 95.5, as when 95.5 is on commercials, there's a beat loop playing on 107.5.

Newflyer whats the inside scoop??
Neopolitan. :-)

I would be the last person in the world to officially know what's going on at First and Linclon!

As for Z100, remember it's a station that faked changing formats twice - once in the early 90s, the other was in March 2002, IIRC. I would think the only way anyone will believe a format change there will be when they hear it.

I heard a great promo, somewhat reminiscent of a "who's on first" routine involving Movin' and Jammin'. I was thinking there had to be something like 6 months between 2 different companies using the same call letters. It seems like it was an Arbitron rule. I wonder if it's still in effect. The Jammin' website is now gone!

Ive noticed on Careezys page (former afternoon jock on jammin) that she is a promotions director at 95.5 The game. That being said, I don't think any of the Jammin jocks will be coming over to 1075(besides the playhouse). It also sounds like the afternoon jock at Jammin (Bootz)is moving to California. So it sounds 1075 will have some openings for jocks.

I'm trying to figure out (without being forced to listen) how 107.5 can be simulcasting 95.5 if 95.5 is an all sports station? How does THAT help the new CBS Jammin??

Z100 is taking over another "station". A gas station. It's going to be some sort of free gas promotion. That's my bet anyway.

107.5 isnt all sports til Monday at 9 Terry. So they are simulcasting the jammin 95.5 until pam on Monday at which point 95.5 goes sports and 107.5 stays as Jammin.

The one thing that seems unprecedented is Rose City's obvious approval and cooperation in this move. Surely, there had to be money change hands, its almost like "here, buy our name, calls and morning show, and oy, we'll make you such a deal" :-)

How about getting a live and local morning show cheap channel?

My bad. I should have paid more attention. I foolishly assumed that since so many posters were trashing the hosts and programs on 95.5 -- that it was actually on the air.

>>I was thinking there had to be something like 6 months between 2 different companies using the same call letters. It seems like it was an Arbitron rule. I wonder if it's still in effect. <<

Huh?

There's no rule like that. Arbitron doesn't regulate call letters - the FCC does. And this type of format transfer (i.e. acquisition of intellectual property) has been done many times before in other markets, with no gap in Arbitron coverage.

Now, there MAY be a six-month waiting period for a station to register a previously-used slogan with Arbitron (which may or may not include call letters), but because CBS is buying the IP from Rose City, I expect it includes the slogan registration with Arbitron.

Or maybe KXGM? :-) Is that too close to KXJM?

But then again, I've always wondered how 1450 KBPS and 1480 KBMS can be so close together in both frequency and the one letter difference (and both stations use their calls on the air), that neither has accused the other of trying confuse people.

Sucks to be the Playhouse. 1st Avenue compared to Rose City's studios is like comparing a mobile home to a million dollar mansion. The building is old, small, and if they haven't done a major remodel, the show will have to share an office with the likes of Marconi, Cort and Fatboy. Plus the studio they'll use is something like half the size of the one they had at Rose City and I guarantee the computer system is still old and 99% of the time, broken. Maybe its just me, but if I went from Paul Allen signing my paychecks to whomever happens to be running CBS at the time, I'd consider Movin on. That's right, I went there.

Then again, I don't work in radio, and according to the ass-baskets that post here on a regular basis, I don't get to have an opinion.

The CBS studios at First Avenue are probably some of the best built studios in the city. Sure the building is older, but the studio that Rick Emerson broadcasts from in that complex is a palace. If I remember correctly, that entire building recently went under a complete remodel.

From what I heard the Cbs studio where Movin is located is a Piece of shit! VERY VERY TINY! There is no way it will be able to fit all members of the playhouse, it just won't work. Plus how will they be able to do their stunts, pranks ect, when they are crammed in a little box. That being said, Im sure thats the least of Pk's worries.

Beano you are right on the money! 1st ave is a pit. They did replace the carpet and slap some paint on it but the studios are worse than most small markets. They are pretty small and most of the equipment is crap and set up very poorly.

Dude called it not only a complex...but a palace?

One could almost say that MHCC is setup better than 1st Ave is. From both studio's to their prod studio.

You'd think a pdx pd would know that.

Twallyjr says
Sucks to be the Playhouse.

Not really Twallyjr, it sucks to be the talent outside of Morning drive on Jammin that are no longer employed. At least the playhouse are still getting a paycheck. While I agree, the equipment and studio down at 3rd avenue is CRAP, at least they still have a morning show. Especially in this dying business called RADIO! But that does raise a good question of how the Playhouse are going to do a morning show in such a tiny studio!

This is Really cool!
On Jammin 95.5 they actually did have a Live dj spinning records during the jocks shows.
That is some cool radio! I hope the new jammin 1075 does this.
