Um... so my in-laws always have KUPL tuned in on every radio at their house and on Mother's Day I heard Tim Ryan ... is that THE Tim Ryan from 970?? If so it's really really weird to hear him doing country, not at all what I would think of when I think of Tim Ryan but then again you gotta do what you gotta do to keep working in radio. I do realize they have the same owners, it's just weird.

Tim has done country before. He was part of KXPC when they were live. Best sounding night show in the valley at the time.

Tim is a pro who can wear many hats, even a ten gallon Stetson.

Yeah its funny driving around with the folks on the weekends to hear Tim on a country format because he seems to be such a different person. But you know what at the very least he is both getting the experience and doing what he loves doing probally in life most. And yes I agree littlesongs he is indeed a pro. It may not be a place he wants to be if he could choose but I doubt he complains about it.

There was once a young shock jock who made a pretty good name in this town being outrageous until he got fired (for no good reason). He later reappeared doing morning drive in country radio and made a nice little niche for himself doing a good show without the shock. He actually sounds gread int he format, too.

That young man's name was Mike Chase.

Timmy Ryan rules! He can do most anything in radio, much of it quite well. :-)

Best quote here: "Tim is a pro who can wear many hats, even a ten gallon Stetson."

From what I've heard, many times that's all he's wearing!

Rock (and Country) on Tim!

I tried to hire him ( tim, aka timmy) back in 2003; but because of his band commitments he had to turn it down. I've been glad he landed in portland, and apparently has made a name for him self.
I've heard him on KXL, KSND, KUPL, KUFO, KLTH, and KCMD. Most succesful jocks can/ have worked numerous formats. It's rare for a jock to be with ONLY one company/ format now a days.

Larrybuddleman- I agree with you on Mike Chase. very talented individual, and I think should be in a bigger market doing bigger things.
