After looking over Z100's playlist on yes. com. It is quite apparent that they are worried about Jammin 1075(Which they should be) BECAUSE they have turned almost completely hip hop. Infact they sound almost exactly like Jammin 1075 except I've noticed that Z100 has a lot better variety. Not only is Z100 playing the new Hip hop, but they are also playing a lot more classics from the 90's like Eminem, Dr. dre, ect.

Im still very excited to see the air talent that Movin 1075 will be hiring. If they can get Stacey Lynne in the afternoon, 1075 will be an absolute POWERHOUSE!! Live and local is the way to go, Thats what jammin 95.5 did and Im betting 1075 will be live and local also. If they can't get Stacey Lynne back, than maybe they can get Bootz from 95.5.
I say bring back great talent like Z100 used to have back in the day!!!! Portland is long over due for a powerhouse of air talent on one station.

I miss the old Z100 days were they had a Powerhouse of air talent the entire day, and all the jocks were LIVE. Some of my favorite memories of radio was listening to amazing talents on Z100 back in the day like Nelson, Ck and the bad boy broadcast, Dk Erickson, Stacey Lynne, Scott Lander, Rich E cunningham, Erin O malley, Tony Martinez, Dave Styles, Lara. Good stuff, and excellent air talent!

Stacey is too old for the CHR/Rhythmic format. However, she'd be great for Charlie FM or the Buzz!

So maybe they'll hire Eve away from KLYC instead. :-)

(No way)!!. Shellie Heart at Kube Fm doesn't sound hip hop at all, and she is in the middays. I agree with Justin, Stacey would sound great on Jammin. Maybe bring back the way back playback at noon or the Throwback Mix at noon.

And yes, Z100 has definetely gone all hip hop. The battle between 2 stations is on.

Buns of steel. OUT!

Actually, Z100 has reverted to being a true Top 40 station. If you haven't noticed, the Billboard Top 40 is consistantly ALL Hip-Hop. So Z100 is simply going back to it's roots, so to speak.

Z100 is still mixing in pop/rock artists like Finger Eleven and John Mayer.

They should hire djfresh! As for Stacielynn, I think she's overrated as a talent. She's alright, but nothing extraordinary.

It sure doesn't sound like Z100 is moving into a pop/rock station. Granted, they are playing the occasional Finger Eleven song, but thats because the song is HUGE!! I would say over 90% of their format is hip hop. Right now as we speak, Z100 is playing "whats your fantasy" By Ludicras.

By my calculations, Z100 sits somewhere in the middle of the road between 95.5 and 107.5 along the scanner/dial.

They'd be crazy to sound anything but 100% welcoming of the Jammin' audience while it's on the move.

Z100 shifted their music to more hip hop about two years ago. As others have mentioned, Top 40 today IS hip hop. I don't really notice anything different about them now. I think we're all just more sensitive to them because we're looking/listening for some kind of change.

NOPE. go to www. yes.com and look at the playlist.
And Tdanner. don't jammin and Z100 share an audience??? Why would they be welcoming Jammin while they move to a more Chr??
This can't be good news for Z100!

Justin: My post must have been unclear. I meant that with the Jammin AUDIENCE in transit from the lower end of the dial to the upper end, they have to dial right through Z100. I would expect Z100 to make their product sound very appealing to the Jammin' audience, in the hopes of snagging them as regular listeners. In short, stop the Jammin' migration short at Z100 -- before they get to 107.5.

My previous post acknowledged the scan function. Most radios are still scanning up or down the dial, stopping at each "station" en route. Scanners will pause at Z on their way from the old Jammin' site to the new one...and the right content could generate sampling.

Danner who doesn't use their presets?
Im guessing most people do! They either have Z100 on their presets or they don't.

Z100 pretty much has no content for them to stop and sample. Still no morning show on Z100?? Pretty pathetic. Z100 better get some intriguing content if they don't want Jammin to whoop their ass, and a "More music in the morning" show won't make the cut. Plus if Jammin can keep up with the heritage personalities and hire talent like Stacey Lynne or someone in the same league of talent, Z100 will be dust in the wind.

To me it's just amazing that both Z-1-Blunder and Jammin' Lite are mostly automated and very much lacking any soul, except Jammin' Lite in morning drive.

I listen in afternoon drive and both Z and Jammin' give me the same feeling Movin' did, no one at home! It's more like what you might expect in a market the size of Bend.

So, the young adults of Portland are just not attractive enough to the advertisers of this market to put on a real station?

I just think it is kind of surprising. And again, I say it makes me feel that the media of Portland is moving down to something smaller, even as the market grows.

Amen Egor! I couldn't agree more! Z1-blunder has been lacking soul for a long time!! Not having any strong personalities on the station is hurting them. Like I said, If Jammin wants to get some real ratings, they are going to have to get some strong, LIVE personalities on the station. They have done well with the morning show, BUT they have 3 other important dayparts to fill. Hopefully Jammin will get some good disk jockeys to fill the other day parts or else nobody will be taking jammin seriously!

OK, allow me to rant on just a little more...

Can you believe that the biggest morning man in Portland is on KGW-TV, and he's a rather mediocre talent that yells all morning long, just like the smallest hick-market DJ you've ever heard?

He wins by default, Portland radio appears to have given up.

What an opportunity!

Sorry to rant, but, I rant in love with the Portland radio audience, who doesn't get much these days...
