BC has several openings in You-Gene.....

NOT BASHING ANY SPECIFIC COMPANY IN THIS NEXT PART
ONLY A PERSONAL OBSERVATION

....many stations had/have the mandatory Selector experience requirement. I always felt it was something that could easily be learned in short order, and they were overemphasizing it as a "must requirement" UNLESS you would be the only person in house who knew how to use it. Sorry there was no play at home demo model to learn on. Only place I was that used it, those in the know weren't willing to train anyone else in it's use. Thought it might be some secret government code breaking program. More than likely it was just my lowly status as a staff serf among the radio GODS in this company that forbid hourly employees access to that portion of the station....
Even went so far to offer free use of my services
to the local company that utilizes it, in exchange for some training. Seemed like a good deal all around, but no takers.

MY OPINION is that great people management skills were a higher value, but I think many of us have been through places where the PD/OM was a Selector Wiz, and a horrible communicator and manager. Boils down to what is really important to GMs, and regional VPs. Here's a thought. If all that's missing is an equipment skill, Hire a PD with all the other skills, and have someone on staff show them how to use Selector. Usually an MD in house has a grasp on it... A PD with good management skills would probably delegate Selector duties to a staffer anyway.....

You can train equipment use and set up, people skills are much tougher to teach.

Oh well, that's water over the highway........

Best wishes to all Eugene applicants....

(Jeff you moving cross town?)

Lots of ads must mean a recent mass exodus?

BTW RCS has tech support for Selector, one phone call away, assuming BC still pays for tech support on their Nexgen system. I would think they still are... but... ???

I saw an ad for KFLY PD, but you were supposed to send stuff to Chris Seargent. I figured he just wanted to be able to focus more on his OM duties and less on programming KFLY.

This "All Access" story is about the Medford market but it does mention KFLY and thought it was interesting enough to post:

---------------Bicoastal/Medford Hires PD, Morning Co-Host---------------
BICOASTAL MEDIA/MEDFORD, OR has bolstered the staffs of Rock KZZE (ROCK 106.3) and heritage Country KRWQ. JASON ALLEN has been named PD/on-air at KZZE, while former GREAT EASTERN RADIO AC WGXL/BURLINGTON, VT morning host KRISTA LEE is joining KRWQ PD LARRY NEAL's morning show.

ALLEN succeeds MONTANA at KZZE, who segues to Rock sister KFLY/EUGENE, OR in the same capacity -- while continuing his midday duties on KZZE. ALLEN, a seven-year veteran of GRANTS PASS BROADCASTING Top 40/M KLDR/GRANTS PASS, ORM will begin at KZZE on JULY 16th.

Before coming to KLDR, Jason Allen was at Roseburg's "Kiss FM" KKMX.

hmmm so "Montana the Rock Bitch" is making the move up I-5 to join the KFLY airstaff (as opposed to simulcasting her mid-day show on KFLY as she is doing now from the KZZE studio).

Gee I bet the fellas on the Donkey Show will be just a "bit" pleased to have her and her ample "personal assets" in the studio live before their show every day...
