I consider Radio a great, free media buffet. You might also call me eclectic in my format tastes.

For starters, I listen to KBOO, KMHD, KLYC, KLOO, KPAM, KPOJ, KUIK, KOPB and KTRO.

Then again, you're predictable yourself in constantly disagreeing.

Dennis Miller is the most creative and intelligent of those vying for my attention. Who else has the depth and breadth of understanding the American culture than Dennis. I think its the result of his sense of humor and his ability to relate it to the context of what is happening.

Mr. Miller has an amazing vocabulary. Probably one of the more literate comics out there.

Dennis Miller is an ignorant ass. He peaked on SNL and it's been downhill ever since.

As long as he doesn't have to do Monday Night Football. There's no questioning his intellect, and he's a funny guy ... but that just did not work.

Dennis Miller has cooled off sharply since he took his right turn. He wouldn't be doing a lightly-syndicated AM talk show if he had higher profile options. There's crankier, more pugnacious conservative talk out there on the very attractive AM dial, and that's what it takes. Plus, Bush supporters don't like smarty-pants.

Which is what Miller is. All of those obscure literary references he tossed out to a bewildered MNF audience were readily recognizable to any undergrad English major.

Having a great vocabulary is an admirable thing but it isn't necessarily going to get one a seat in the ballpark. Words are part of our arsenal, a beautiful and fascinating thing; one must choose the right verbiage, the punchiest and pithiest words that connect, have impact, and wield them wisely. However, the usage of the five dollar ones and the arcane references don't go over real well in Hooterville. There's a thin line between being colorful and sounding like you have a stick inserted thusly, trying too hard to demonstrate your intellectual superiority.

Or whatever, dude.

Best Regards,

Charles B. Smith

I used to listen to KPOJ when Dick Novak's Rhythm Room was on.

Dennis is very funny when he's not talking politics. Otherwise, he sounds like any other right-wing whacko. Or is it wacko? I've never been sure. My vocabulary isn't as developed as it should be.

Let's run it through the spell checker: wacko whacko Wacko goes through; whacko doesn't. Just part of the service.

I always liked "whacko", because the root is whack, and that's what they need. (usually, but not always)

Probably more correct to use "wacko" though.

And there is the new, up and coming, "Nut-Bag". Always good for a change up, if it's all just dull and uninteresting.

Dennis doesn't have much in the way of listenership. I don't find any liberal talkers very high on this list.
Looks like conservative talk although not popular on this message board, is popular with who counts, the listeners and the advertisers.

While I can read the report and can accept your "analysis", Dodger, I would say that it shows that Miller has as many listeners as the top liberal talkers. So, if you say Dennis does not have much in the way of listenership, you would also have to say each of the top liberal talkers don't have much in the way of listenership, either. That includes Portlands liberal favorite, Hartman. Regardless of ones political views and what one may think of each the talkers on the list, the lineup is interesting and speaks for itself.

A bit off-topic, but that link shows Kim Komando having a higher cume with her 3-hour weekly show than some big names do with 3+ hours daily.

Bizzare. Her show isn't that good, IMHO.

Perhaps I'm too close to the tech issues. My impression is that she is the Lionel of tech issues.
