List the stations you listen to the most while in the car or at home ect ect. 1 being the most listened to station. Here are mine

1. Kufo ( That station has done a complete 180 over the past year. The music is so much better and they have live jocks on all dayparts. I couldn't ask for more. Best station on the dial period.

2. KGON- Yes I still like classic rock. although I think KGON needs to start playing some deeper tracks.

3. Charlie- Gotta be honest. i used to be a HUGE fan of this station but Im slowly starting to listen to it less and less. I really liked the Random request hour, and now its gone.

4. k-hits, I like this station a lot, deeper tracks would be greatly appreciated! Stoners Rock and Roll Time Machine would help.

5. Jammin 1075- Still a mess! The station is lifeless and unlistenable. I will listen to the playhouse and then turn the station.

6. NRK- Not a huge fan of this station but I do tune in on occasion.

Only KGON, occasionally, 'cause most other local radio is so bad. Iris Harrison is one of the best--if not the best--jocks this area has ever had.

You got that right Nibs, totally agree and echo what you said about IRIS! I listen to KGON on the am/pm drives and all day at work.

Every once in a while when North of Vancouver I will tune in 98.3 "The Peak" from Rainier. They have a really good mix and not very many commercial breaks.

My radio listening is nearly nothing these days since I've got an iPod with 5000 of my own choices on it. However, I do listen to the radio while in the shower getting ready in the morning or while washing my one of my cars.

M-F I'll tune into Charlie, on the weekends it's KGON. I'll dabble a little bit with some other stations if commercials come on though, but mostly those two.

Timberfake I still don't understand the whole KUFO thing. IMHO the only thing they have going for them is live in all dayparts and strong on air personalities but the music really hasn't changed all that much.

What about 105.1?

I honestly don't listen to 1051 the Buzz Xpert. I appreciate the fact that most of the jocks are live and local but their music is BRUTAL!!! Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, Thats what their playlist consists of, and I just can't stand it. Its "Soccer mom" music, and I'm not a soccer mom.

Hey Shyguy, as far as KUFO goes their music has changed A LOT, for the better. THey play a LOT more 90's stuff, deeper Pearl Jam songs ect. ect.
Plus I Love the "Smells like the 90's weekend" They have been digging up some stuff I have not heard in years. I even Heard Queen the other night, along with Johnny Cash. The playlist on KUFo is expanding and definetely more listenable.

All of my radio listening is done in the car:
1)The FAN/The GAME depending on who went to CB last.
2)All Classical when both are in CB.
3)KMHD Fridays for blues (When they don't get the station power cut off!)

Occasionally, I will surf through the old haunts: KGON/KNRK/KUFO

Oh and when I am "testing" out another HD Radio at home, I like the blues river? on the second channel of one of the country stations...

Here's my honest, current list, based on what's on my portable radio:
1. 97.1
1a. 1450*
2. 105.9
3. 106.7
4. 92.3
5. 101.1
6. 100.3 (mostly to see what they're playing/up to)

*Since it's the summer, I usually give KBPS(AM) a listen. The kids don't just sound like they want to be there, but it almost sounds like they're doing it with the thought in the back of their minds that this will be the only time they'll actually perform live on a radio station playing something other than kiddie stuff.

If I'm in a car where I have control over the radio, add 98.3 The Peak to the list, too.

When I'm online, if I'm listening to something, it's probably C89.5 out of Seattle. (Five years ago if someone told me I'd like some of the music they play, and I would've probably responded with something like 'you couldn't pay me to listen.' Then things changed in the very end of 2003.) A couple of years ago I visited Seattle and was bummed when I couldn't get any reception of them at all in Downtown Seattle.

94.7 Is an Enigma to me, I don't really even consider them to be a rock station. Every time I turn them on they are playing 80's music like Blondie and UB40. To me that doesnt really scream alternative. I liked the station(Musically) before they turned into this KINK type station. IS 94.7 even direct competition to KUFO anymore? To me KUFO is the rock station and 94.7 is more of a AAA station.

Larry,
I'm 33, I grew up with Blondie and UB40 on the radio, hated it then and hate it even more today. "Red Red Wine" is one of the most annoying songs on the radio. Even k103 is playing Red Red Wine.
I don't hate 94.7 but The station is nothing like it used to be. S&M were classic on the old NRK.

Thanks, Beano. That explains some of it. I'm 39, so I was in the prime of my influential high school years when Blondie and UB40 were popular and I hate most of what was on the radio in the 80's myself.

94/7, like any radio station, plays to nostalgia from time to time. Most people are sheep and will easily fall in line with what they heard on the radio in high school. It's a little insulting but apparently lucrative.

Having said that, 94/7 is the least of the offenders that have a "classic" aspect to their programming. They don't beat us over the head too much with the stuff, and the entire format is not based on nostalgia as at least 10 other stations in this market are.

Hey Larry I don't mind nostalga, Im a die hard Van Halen and Guns n Roses fan, To me that was the best of the 80's not Blondie and Red Red wine but the old saying goes "Different strokes for different folkes".

I do love the old songs 94.7 is playing from the Clash and The Sex Pistols, I wish they would play more of that instead of the overplayed Blondie and Red Red Wine.

Most days, KNRK, KGON, KPOJ, KXL. Depends on mood and what's actually on.

On occasion, most of the dial, just checking for changes, tweaks, etc... Generally reserve this for times when I'm outside my normal drives. Then it's DX time, or maybe just scan and see what sticks time.

FM gets about 1/3 of my listening time, AM 1/2, the rest being portable media players, playing all sorts of stuff, but mostly podcasts and some recorded material from FM that I want to time shift for longer drives.

I don't use CD's anymore for anything other than storage.

Semoochie, XM's "POTUS '08" channel means the same thing. It's 24/7 coverage of the campaign, not unlike C-Span. Given that the executive branch is in smoldering ruins, and the judicial and legislative are not far behind, we're at a particularly critical juncture. Political talk shows make me gag and lunge for the button. I appreciate XM's channel, as well as C-Span, for the unfiltered, un-spun, non soundbite coverage they give to both sides.

3)Kink

I would like to list K-hits, however I personally feel that their programming could and should be better, and it just isn't there. The music of that era is the best, and a station should be just a polished. So, they won't receive a ranking.

I also don't understand why someone is so enthralled with KUFO and that there has been this 180??? It still is mediocre.

I like Kufo a lot! Just heard Porkchop back on the air today and he sounded great. NRK is boring, I've heard college radio stations that sound better than 94.7. NRK sounds dead and has been sounding dead ever since they switched over to this diluted, waterd down rock station. If you want to talk about a mediocre sounding station, that would be NRK.
Kufo also has live jocks on all of their dayparts, including overnights. At least Kufo is trying to put on great radio, NRK voice tracks their morning show, whats up with that?
If people want to hear a real rock station they will listen to KUFO because it plays rock.

Kufo is the rock station and 94.7 is the illegitimate step sister.

But I guess if you want to hear the Killers on the radio 24/7 than 94.7 is Your station.

Listen to KUGN in the mornings with the Morning Show (Jerry, Dan, and Al) followed by Dr. Laura (what the heck listening to her yell at some of those callers can be amusing)...then flip over to the FM side and KFLY for the rest of the day with "Montana the Rock Bitch" broadcasting out of their sister station KZZE in Medford and then the Donkey Show live from the KFLY studio.

Other than that will listen to KZEL, KODZ, and KEUG on occasion...also sample 920 KSHO out of Lebanon every now and then.

I'm partially surprised that no one had KBOO on their list.

Do you all prefer to listen to commercial radio and all it's artifacts, or is it something with the station.

I'm back on the Program Committee now and maybe I should ask, what's the problem?

btw
KBOO is wiping out all of it's evening programming 7-midnight and restructuring that time to flow better with more daypart to daypart consistancy.
A few of the current shows likely will stay but nothings guaranteed.
All current programmers have to submit a proposal as to why they should be on the air.

Interesting news about KBOO. I used to try KBOO out most any time I was driving somewhere (where I do most of my radio listening - in the car), but lately it's all Rick Emerson, all the time via podcast.

So:

1) Rick Emerson via podcast (if that counts as "radio").
2) KOPB in the shower or on the clock radio.
3) Rarely, HD alternate channels or DX AM.

This move would seem to favor those who are good writers or good BSers, and not necessarily favor the shows that are most popular. Do donors have an opportunity to specify which shows are their favorites when they donate?

It seems to me that KGON is playing what I consider newer music (80's and early 90's) still from the rock genre, not bubblegum or anything like that, just stuff that I don't much care for like The Scorpions, AC/DC and that type of stuff.

Hey, I'm stuck in the 70's, what can I say!

It's good to see that Classic Rock has chosen to evolve. That could buy them a couple of decades.

Yup Ive also noticed some Strange tracks on KGON.

"Life is a highway" By Tom Cochrine. Are you serious. That doesn't strike me as a classic rock song.

I have heard Midnight Oil played on KGON. This change from playing exclusively 1970s album rock to incorporating 80s and early 90s material has been in progress for years.

Yeah, it does seem sort of strange to hear some of this stuff on KGON these days. I wonder how much longer before they start playing Seattle Grunge and some of the older Alternative Rock staples.
