Mark L. Ail was 60 years old and was KVAN/KKAD General Manager in addition to Director of Operations for Pamplin Communications Corp. beginning in April 2001. This included KPAM, KVAN/KKAD & KZTU Junction City.

Here's his obit from the Sunday Oregonian:

Have known Mark since we were kids...later worked with him at Kisn on 10th where he sold radio. One of the great sales people in PDX broadcasting. His father was famous for the raceway ads on radio in the 60's where he tagged every spot "Be therrrrrrrrrrrrrre"
He grew up in a family of promoters. The father brought it all to Portland from countless number of boxing matches to live music entertainment.....and of course the stock car races. Mark will be missed. One of the good guys!

Mark formerly worked at Vancouver's Columbian newspaper, and handled all the Clark County Fair advertising, too.

I worked with Mark on numerous Country concert promotions for the fair as PD of "JJ."

He was a good guy, who was enthusiastic about radio and promotion!!!

I liked Mark Ail. He was personable and a good man. His father, Ron, was the voice of Portland Speedway. He was the one who said, "Be there!"

Mark was very helpful to me during my time at KPAM and was always a fun guy to be around. I'm really sorry to see this news.
