I read the Allaccess job ads about twice a week, and I’m noticing tons of reoccurring
Cliché’s that are driving me nuts! They are as follows , with my comments underneath:

1. “Do you live the 25-54 year old life style? “

*In other words, are you content to talk only about American Idol, Dancing with the stars, or shoes?*

2. “Looking for female morning co-host”…. ( then at the bottom of ad) “______________ is an EEO”.

*Yes, they are an EEO- as long as you are a woman!*

3. “ This job won’t make you rich”- or “ The pay isn’t that great”

*I dare you to find other jobs postings- besides radio job postings that blatantly point out you will be living in poverty should you be hired!*

4. “ Leave your ego at the door”

*In other words, be prepared to have your spirit crushed & work long, grueling hours, for little pay*

4. “ Clock watcher need not apply”

*In other words, be prepared to work long, grueling hours, for little pay*

5. “ Must have at least 2-3 years experience”

*I have yet to figure this one out. So, ONLY those who have no less than 2, but no more than 3 may apply? Why not just say: Must have 2 years of experience”?*

Have any others?

I love the ads that point out all of the great fishing that you'll be doing. Seriously...saw it on Allaccess.

I sent a package, immediately.

“ Leave your ego at the door”

Ummm, Ok. I have yet to meet a jock who doesn't have an ego. And I have yet to meet a jock who doesn't need to put their ego in check.
Some jocks have bigger egos than movie stars!

I have said it before elsewhere on this board but for those who haven't heard/read what I have said before:

The radio industry is a mirror image of another industry that I know of well!

Pro Wrestling

In wrestling the guys and gals have an ego bigger than most yet the pay does not equal the ego.

So Ego's that are huge and a disparity in wages from the top versus bottom personalities is prevelant.

But in pro wrestling, the good guy sometimes wins!

I can't believe that Beano and I agree on something. Every jock I have met has an ego as well. Many of them seem to be really insecure at the same time. Wierd combo.

It's not just radio jobs... it's just about all of them.

(BTW... this entire post is all in good fun :-) there are good places to work out there.)

Anyone else noticed that most job ads look something like this?
"Our friendly office will train the right person for a flexible position. Pay DOE and qualifications and includes benefits. Send resume to Newspaper Blind Box #42, Vancouver, WA 98666."

(I should also add that I have nothing against Vancouver and actually - gasp - like it! Almost moved across the Columbia several times. Just wanted to use it because 98666 really is a Vancouver ZIP code.)

What they really mean though, is this:
"Our office welcomes those who enjoy sharing prescription anti-depressants with their co-workers for a position with duties decided off-the-cuff by management and hours that are flexible for us, not you. You will be paid 5 cents above minimum wage and will undoubtedly qualify for government-funded social services. The more education you have, the higher your loan balance is and the longer you'll be willing to work at this place no matter what! Send resume (including references that don't know you listed them as references, and has your Social Security number on it so we can immediately run the criminal and credit checks without your further knowledge, as well as the letter everyone includes that shoots the breeze) to the newspaper blind box because we want to know all about you, but don't want you to know who we are.

BTW, when I made the above post I remembered there was another, better one out there that was even radio-specific. Here it is:
