What's up with the contemporary marketing stategy regarding radio and tv towards repetitive programming? Is there a vacancy of original or new programming? Or do the "marketeers" throughout the industry understand that their viewers and listeners are braindead and conditioned to the same shit over and over and over again? They know as well that the general "sheeple" populous will continue to tune in regardless. Zombies.

Similarly, why was the Oregon Ducks football game simulcast on 750-AM and 95.5-FM?

I don't know, but I found KPAM's Saturday afternoon re-broadcast of the Thursday night OSU game against USC to be much more entertaining than the blowout in Pullman...even though I obviously knew the outcome. Some people don't like Mike Parker, and some do. I really do.

bababo.....

it's all about cutting costs. Simulcasting saves dollars the increased coverage in some instances is worth it for an event. Most of the time it just saves having to pay a real human who might use the income to patronise the sponsors the station strives to put on the air, as well as contributing to economic growth that the nation SUPPOSEDLY needs. Sure wouldn't want that!

By repetitive programming, are you talking about the way that KEX runs all of that week's episodes of the Dr. Dean Edell show back-to-back on weekend afternoons? Or, are you asking why a lot of talk radio stations replay some of their daytime shows in the overnights or on weekends?

How about cable channels running the same movie multiple times over a weekend? What's up with that?

Related: Can someone bring back the old AMC? The one with better movies and no commercials?

And since I'm ranting, anyone else sick of those superimposed moving promos at the bottom of the screen during movies? Almost all the major cable networks use these distracting and annoying
vehicles. Please make it stop!

I am in agreeance with you Paulwalker when it comes to the promos at the bottom of the screen. It drives me nuts.

Try TCM; it's basically the same thing as the old AMC. I've recorded hundreds of movies from there!

There are other current threads here where other posters proclaim that 70% of Americans are stupid.

And it takes most average people 10 times to hear something before they remember it.

Put the two together.

One of my favorite statistics is the following:

Over 80% of the American population think they are above average...

Naturally, this statistic would be American-centric. Because such analysis would ever be able to promote what the real American character might be. This would not shed the light and goodness that you've been indoctrined to be so.

I was going to mention TCM, also. Another one I look at occasionally is Fox Movie Channel. No commercials and they do not put a bug at the bottom also.
I was watching MTV a week ago and they constantly kept running snipes at the bottom advertising new and continuing shows coming up. These would be over the program so you missed info on the show. I also notice that Chelsea Handlers show does the same stupid stuff. They run the opening credits at the bottom when she introduces her panel so the credits key over the name titles. They could do the credits over her at the bottom when she does her opening intro remarks. So annoying.

It appears that for whatever reason, in order to receive Fox Movie Channel, you must subscribe to the sports package.
